🧵I read this justification from so-called environmental activists against research on climate solutions, and I have thoughts. No, climate scientists aren’t projecting 2.5°C of warming. This is an opinion poll; just like this article, it’s not scientific. 1/n

Update on #OAEPIIP: Call for participation has ended and we are now 17 teams doing the same experiment on Ocean Alkalinity Enhancement to identify re-occurring effects on plankton communities. At least one team from EACH continent 🗺️ 🌐🤝 Fingers crossed we get quality data!

Relevance, completeness, consistency, transparency and accuracy in #blueCDR . @NadineMengis , @allanah_pl and @Mar_Walimai highlight key challenges and way forward in the context of #Carbonaccounting for #blueCDR in their recently published work. #Carbondioxideremoval
#Carbonaccounting and #CDR are two current interests of mine that emerged from this side project with this wonderful team of @NadineMengis and @Mar_Walimai! Very glad to see the fruits of this collaboration are now out.

It keeps getting worse that you need to publish to get into a phD prog. The pressure of an academic career is slowly creeping up to the learning process. Soon it will be a thin line btwn growth & learning and roboting oneself to fulfil a publishing quota at the masters level 🤯

4)Detectable rates were distributed in the euphotic zone above and within the coastal OMZ suggesting a potentially significant biogeochemical role on the regional inventory if this spatial colocation triggers positive feedbacks between N2 fixation and nitrogen loss.

5)Overall, the distribution of N2 fixation rates could not be directly associated with phosphorus concentrations and their relationship with iron availability seems to be much more complex than linear.

This study led by Jan Taucher (n.o.T.) found that ocean acidification negatively affects diatoms through an Earth system feedback. This contrasts our current knowledge and sends a warning sign on how we interpret experiments. 🧵 1/9 nature.com/articles/s41586-0…
