Did you know that most employers pay 250-700% of #Medicare pricing for the identical procedure? Did you know that efficiently run #hospitals do not lose money providing Medicare services? No incentive to improve if employers pay whatever is asked.

Another reason health literacy is critical. Most people don't discriminate between high value care and unnecessary care when cutting back. The former will be much more affordable in the long run.
Research shows that people do cut back on health care when they have to spend more for it. The problem is that they don’t cut only wasteful care. nyti.ms/2NV0IMa
Unnecessary care is one of the biggest drivers of overall health costs. And @quizzify is right it can be harmful. Education around health literacy is one way to improve health and lower costs.
Instead of pushing people to get into the medical system, it may be wiser to help them distinguish harmful care from useful care. As we say at Quizzify, just because it's healthcare, doesn't mean it's good for you. wacommunitycheckup.org/media…

Drug purchasing is ripe for disruption. PBMs and other mIddlemen are gaming the system to optimize their bottom line. Employer purchasers can encourage employees and consumers to shop for medication. Purchasers can also get more savvy about drug benefits and their formulary. teapawt.net/miller7/status/1012397…
