Today is a National Day of Mourning due to the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter. But there is also mourning everywhere in Los Angeles. Homes lost, livelihoods gone, jobs gone, schools gone, houses of worship gone. There is heartbreak everywhere, and so we mourn with our neighbors. We mourn their loss. We mourn as they share their heartbreak. We offer comfort where we can. Our flags are at half mast for a former president, but also for a city known as a city of angels that is now a city of fire. #dayofmourning
