“Many economists, many specialists in Cuba, point to the principal cause of the Cuban economic distress as being this unprecedented economic war waged against Cuba that has now become a genocidal siege.
It's become an obsession of Donald Trump, but particularly Marco Rubio, to starve an entire people into submission by deeming, by denying them basic access to trade, to fuel and the basic necessities.
One question I'd like to point out: What country could withstand this would stand what Cuba has done for the last nearly nine, ten months of this vicious, vicious economic warfare raids against it?
What would happen to Canada if somebody were to cut off its access to international trade and so forth? It would lead to chaos.
And so I think it's important to bear in mind that what Cuba is undertaking, as Julio has pointed out, with its 176 measures, has been long debated and discussed about improving the efficiencies of the economy.
But as the United Nations report and many scholars have pointed out in the studies, the principal cause of Cuba's economic distress is this is this criminal, illegal and immoral economic war waged by Washington.”

🚨 UN commission finds Israel continuing genocide in Gaza despite ceasefire, committing crimes against humanity of extermination in the West Bank
Israel continues to commit genocidal acts in Gaza with the intent to destroy Palestinians "in whole or in part," even after the "so-called" October 2025 ceasefire, according to the fifth report of the UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry to the General Assembly.
Main findings:
▪️ At least 1,431 Palestinians killed in Gaza since the ceasefire, as Israel's expanding territorial control endangers those approaching the Yellow Line
▪️ Israeli military operations and settler violence in the West Bank form a widespread, systematic attack on civilians, carried out as state policy and amounting to extermination, torture and rape
▪️ Lethal force rules apply only to Palestinians, amounting to persecution based on nationality, race and ethnicity
▪️ Operations since January 2025 caused the largest West Bank displacement since 1967, with 34,176 still displaced as of August
▪️ Palestinian children deliberately killed and injured, constituting age-based persecution
▪️ Rape and sexual violence used as a tactic of war, including against Global Sumud Flotilla participants
▪️ An Israeli soldier deliberately killed Turkish-American activist Ayşenur Eygi
Over 75,000 Palestinians have been killed across the occupied territory since October 2023, including at least 21,500 children. The commission links the killings to a decades-long policy of seizing "maximum land" with "minimum population."

BREAKING: The UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry has concluded that Israel has committed war crimes and crimes against humanity, including extermination, persecution, torture, rape and other forms of sexual violence, across the Occupied Palestinian Territory, while continuing the genocide in Gaza.
In today's report, the commission found that Israeli military operations and settler violence in the occupied West Bank have formed part of a widespread and systematic campaign against Palestinian civilians since October 7, 2023.
The report also accused Israeli forces of deliberately targeting Palestinian children, using sexual violence to intimidate and displace communities, and expanding territorial control through forced displacement. More than 34,000 Palestinians remained displaced in the West Bank as of August 2026.
In Gaza, investigators concluded that Israeli forces continued committing genocidal acts despite the ceasefire agreement, including killing and injuring civilians near the so-called Yellow Line.
The commission also criticized the Palestinian Authority for suppressing dissent and failing to investigate abuses by its security forces.
It called on Israel to end its occupation, dismantle settlements and return confiscated Palestinian land, while urging the Palestinian Authority to investigate violations and provide remedies to victims.

At the First Nations–First Ministers’ Meeting in Ottawa, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs Grand Chief Kyra Wilson called on #Canada to honour its Treaty obligations, respect First Nations sovereignty and inherent rights, and address generations of unfulfilled commitments affecting Manitoba’s 63 First Nations.
Challenging the legacy of the 1930 Natural Resources Transfer Agreement, outstanding Treaty land entitlements, and the exclusion of First Nations from decisions concerning their lands and resources, Wilson reminded government leaders that Treaties were agreements between Nations, founded on mutual respect and shared obligations.
“Prime Minister, you have asked the world to respect Canada’s sovereignty and honour its agreements. Our ancestors honoured theirs. Will Canada honour ours?”
“We were not promised a loan. We were promised a share.”
The Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs called for meaningful Treaty implementation, negotiations to replace the #NRTA with an agreement signed by First Nations, clear timelines for outstanding Treaty land obligations, and recognition of Canada’s apology to the #Dakota and #Lakota Nations.
“Our Chiefs have not come for another program. We have come for implementation.”
Grand Chief Wilson went to Ottawa not to negotiate a new deal, but to demand that Canada honour the agreements it already made.
