Starknet and the Race for Post-Quantum Security The Quantum Threat Powerful enough quantum computers running Shor's algorithm could break widely used cryptographic systems such as elliptic-curve cryptography (ECC). With the rapid advancement of AI, cryptographic keys could also become vulnerable if blockchain systems are not implemented properly. Attackers can also collect encrypted data now and attempt to decrypt it when sufficiently powerful quantum computers become available. This is why post-quantum cryptography is necessary, and why organisations must prepare layered defences and the ability to update cryptographic systems as threats evolve. That is why I'm taking a look at @Starknet. Starknet focuses on building a foundation that can adapt to the post-quantum era, combining hash-based STARK proofs with native account abstraction. 1. STARK Proofs: Protecting the Verification Layer Starknet uses STARK proofs to verify computations, relying on cryptographic hash functions rather than the elliptic-curve-based assumptions used by many other proof systems. This gives its core verification system an important advantage against known quantum attacks. Grover's algorithm can still speed up certain searches, but its impact on hash-based cryptography can be mitigated through appropriate security parameters. 2. Account Abstraction: Protecting the Account Layer Protecting the network's verification system is only half the equation. Users also need a way to secure their wallets against future quantum threats. This is where Starknet's native account abstraction becomes important. Since each account is a smart contract, developers can implement different transaction-validation methods, including post-quantum signature schemes. Rather than requiring every user to depend on one fixed signature method, Starknet gives accounts the flexibility to adopt stronger security mechanisms as they become available. 3. The Challenge: Ethereum Dependency Starknet is still an Ethereum Layer 2, which means some of its security dependencies remain tied to Ethereum. Starknet can strengthen its own cryptographic foundations, but achieving full-stack quantum resistance also depends on addressing the security of those external dependencies and Starknet is also looking into transitioning into L1. 4. Preparing for the Post-Quantum Era This is why its ongoing post-quantum migration work matters. The goal isn't simply to use cryptography that is resistant to known quantum attacks today. It's to make sure the network can adapt as threats evolve and new cryptographic standards emerge. The future of crypto security won't depend solely on which network has the strongest cryptography today but on which networks ability to adapt to emerging threats in the future. Starknet's combination of STARK proofs and programmable accounts gives it a promising foundation for future proof security against quantum threats.

What if supporting a launchpad meant getting a piece of every project that launches on it? I haven’t seen many launchpads give their Genesis holders this kind of deal. With @FungoLabs , holders are set to receive 5% of each project’s token supply, with the share potentially going as high as 20%. So if three different teams launch through FungoLabs, Genesis holders could receive tokens from all three. Not just $FUNGO. I like that. You’re not putting all your hopes on one token. You’re getting a chance to be part of several projects from their early days. One Genesis NFT, multiple chances to grow with new projects.

TLDR? @Starknet is built to adapt to the quantum computing threat because every account is a smart contract with programmable signature verification. Unlike Bitcoin and Ethereum, where changing signature schemes requires protocol-level changes and coordinated migrations, Starknet accounts can upgrade their verification logic without changing their addresses, balances or transaction history. This makes it possible to adopt post-quantum signatures, switch cryptographic schemes as standards evolve, and give users more control over their security. An independent Starknet L1 could take this further by bringing post-quantum protection to consensus, data availability and bridging, without depending on Ethereum's cryptography.
