You do realise that the only reason why they made Sam into Cap was because it was a Disney mandate to give Falcon bigger motion in the comics due to him making his movie debut? Same reason why the dumbass modern Marvel editorial shelved Lady Sif in favor of Jane Foster. It never was a creative choice, but a corporate mandate informed by the movies.

I never understood this obsession people have with wanting to be "part of the club" when it comes to certain franchises. Like, can't you just accept being a casual. I've only watched like 3 or 4 Godzilla movies and I don't pretend to be an expert. I'm open about being casual.

No. The Star Wars Prequels were hated because we were quite literally promised at least one or more movies about Darth Vader. Darth Vader in the helmet and cape doing the iconic, menacing breathing. Darth Vader fighting Jedi. Darth Vader enslaving Wookies. Darth Vader striding around and being a general all around badass. That was the promise. That was what all the advertising was about leading up to The Phantom Menace. (1999). Lucas welched on the deal. Instead we got podracing, fart jokes, and a creepy romance with 17-year old Natalie Portman and 8-year old Jake Lloyd.

I don't know if you can count Ben as a legacy character and Miles is legacy for an alt universe version of Peter dragged into the main one for no reason. Sam as cap just doesn't work at all.

Cap thing got me wondering. Has there ever been a superhero passing the mantle that was universally well received? Peter -> Ben & Miles as Spider-Man has been bumpy. Steve -> Sam as Cap too. I think Terry as Batman is the only one everyone liked. Idk why though.
