Your decision to use Free/Open Source software doesn’t give you any moral superiority over others who make different choices. Conversely, you have no right to feel attacked when circumstances require you to use closed software. The real world is not for idealolgical hardliners

I had a ton of fun at todays @SUSE Labs Conference, talking about how SUSE could benefit from thinking "Rolling First" when building it's products, learning lessons from @openSUSE Tumbleweed, @OMicroos and @KubicProject You can watch the recording HERE: youtube.com/watch?v=Rtd_dsSD…

This is also the first version of Kubic that has full multi-version support for both the container control plane and kubectl, meaning that k8s 1.19 will be supported for a *full year* by the Kubic community alongside multiple subsequent versions in the rolling release.

I've accidentally made it feasible for @KubicProject to not only support the latest @kubernetesio version like you'd expect, but offer older versions also. Interested in k8s 1.15.x and 1.16.x still being available? Speak up and volunteer! lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-…

Yes we did! :-) (well, @h4kamp did, as the demo was pretty much entirely his doing) And the work --and the fun-- on this ha just started... :-D
And they even demoed @katacontainers running on a @KubicProject Kubernetes 1.17 cluster It was so cool we’re thinking of offering @katacontainers support out of the box now!

It cannot be stressed enough @OMicroos 's "toolbox" command is the coolest thing ever kubic.opensuse.org/blog/2019… Have all the wonderful benefits of an immutable OS with read-only rootfs and atomic updates, but then get a nice read-write container for your debugging tools :)

As lovely and powerful as Kubernetes is, charts like this are a reminder as to why modern infrastructure should be setup in a way that patching is smooth, easy, and quick - like in @KubicProject The mindset of “don’t touch it, it works” Enterprises is dangerous and must end
Running #kubernetes in prod... seen in a nice infographic from @sysdig
