A recent study from the UK Markey Cancer Center reminds us of the importance of screening and early detection. Cancer screenings may have been missed, or delayed during the COVID-19 Pandemic, now is the time to catch up.
Researchers have expected impacts to cancer detection as a result of delayed screenings due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the extent of this impact had not been quantified until recently. This Markey study’s findings foreshadow even greater consequences.
