It’s astonishing that the lead architect of the Senate’s energy provisions is a self-described philosopher with no experience in the power sector, no prior affiliation with a credible consulting or research institution, and no service in any regulatory or policymaking capacity.

The U.S. Senate’s reconciliation bill will cause irreparable harm to North Carolina.
It will rip health care away from hundreds of thousands of people and close rural hospitals, take food away from hungry children, and kill thousands of jobs in our booming clean energy economy.
All of this just to pay for tax cuts for already very wealthy people — it’s a disgrace.
I urge Congress to vote against it.

NEW - DOE’s No 2: Congress needs to move on permitting reform. For @politico Energy podcast, I spoke w/ Deputy @ENERGY Secretary David Turk, who said lawmakers should “lean into the momentum” of actions taken by Biden/Harris to speed clean energy projects politi.co/3UaVm42

Asheville is over 2,000 feet above sea level, and ~300 miles away from the nearest coastline. No place is safe from climate change.
We all suffer the consequences. We must all take action. We are all in this together.

climate advocates are sharing a story about this plant's "failure to capture 90% of emissions"
what's missing?
1) EPA permits are just for~1/4 of its emissions
2) emissions high b/c there's a 335MW coal plant on site; the current CO2 capture is on the ethanol fermentation part

So blatantly partisan. What @JigarShahDC & team have done is nothing short of remarkable in such little time. Turned it into a power house for innovation & funding, while restoring the office’s reputation.
Also context for Solyndra below (<5% failure rate overall for high risk financing vehicle)… Article briefly mentions the Tesla loan and the 2012-2021’s shut down except for Vogtle but surprise they are footnotes. You never hear critics talk about the loan successes, low overall failure rate, or how the program was laid dormant other than continued loans to Vogtle dramatically over budget/time - where was the R oversight/accountability there?

Yes exactly.
The whole “research and development of CDR is fine just not deployments” was and is an absurd argument.
You need deployments to scale.
Replying to @GregNemet
Looking for density in the top-left… indicating you could go light on deployment in the near term and still do lots in the longer term
We don’t see that. You have to scale early to be material in the long term.
Thus urgency to deploy nCDR even if just to preserve an option

Lithos’ method of removing CO2 from the atmosphere doesn’t require breakthrough technology.
Instead, it builds on existing agricultural practices and offers an opportunity for farmers to decrease their cost and increase their crop yield.
📢Announcing that Frontier buyers signed $57M in CDR offtakes w/ @LithosCarbon.
Lithos will deliver 154,240 tons of CDR in the next 2-6 years. ~100K of that comes before 2026.
‼️ That’s 10X more than all CDR delivered to date across all pathways ‼️

We spoke about this on a previous episode of @TheEnergyGang as well. The amount of mining for a clean economy is a fraction of that to support a fossil fuel economy. Doesn’t mean we don’t need safeguards, but claims about resource mining require this context.
NEW RESEARCH: Overall mining actually DECREASES substantially even when just accounting for coal.
Mass of minerals for energy transition technologies is a fraction of mass of coal produced in current fossil-dominated energy system.
