Live footage of us fighting over the last helpings on Thanksgiving 👀
We can't imagine a better way to wrap up the holiday weekend than with performance two of #LAOFrida. This tense scene between Frida and Catrina has us on the edges of our seats every time we see it.
Two of Mexico's most iconic artists. One opera that paints a new portrait of their love like you've never seen before.
Opening night of #LAOFrida was an experience we won't soon forget. Now we want to hear from you: What were your favorite moments from the evening?
In celebration of themes of Dia de Los Muertos throughout #LAOFrida, we commissioned a (jaw-dropping) ofrenda that honors Frida Kahlo & Diego Rivera, decorated by Oaxacan artist and altarist Aldo Cruz, which you can visit outside of the main doors of the DCP at each performance.
That feeling when we're four days from opening night 🙌
Our final #LAOFrida rehearsal is tomorrow morning, which means it's time for our famous Instagram takeover. Second Villager & Young Man, Anthony Leon (far left), will give us a peek at the backstage fun.

We are so thrilled to see so many new faces in our audience for our upcoming performances of #LAOFrida. Watch as long-time member of the extended LA Opera family, and our Catrina, Ana Maria Martinez, extends a special welcome to all the opera newbies who will be joining us.
In honor of today's final #LAOBarber performance, we have one last video of our "Haircut Hall of Shame" series with Joel Balzun. Strap in - this one is a millennial doozy.
Shoutout to Joel's mom, Carla Balzun, for holding onto the photographic evidence and sharing it with us 😉
Calling all dress-up fans and costume lovers!
@linitaconductor wants to see your best Frida and Diego-inspired looks on opening night of #LAOFrida to make the occasion extra special. The sky is the limit on what you can wear—we want to see your creativity shine!
What's the very last thing you want to hear in a Barber's chair? "Uh oh." Or in @patrickcarfizzi's case, a very loud gasp...
Help us send all the "toi's" to Patrick as he takes the stage as Dr. Bartolo in the final two performances #LAOBarber, starting tonight!
Not pictured: Our audible gasps seeing this stunning set for the first time 🤩
Here are your first glimpses of #LAOFrida, which is set to be a feat for the eyes and ears. Have you saved your seat yet for Gabriela Lena Frank & Nilo Cruz's operatic masterpiece?
On June 9, 2023, LA Opera Connects hosted the second LA County Arts & Health Week Summit with @lacountyarts, featuring @ReneeFleming, LA County Supervisor @hildasolis, and Dr. Maria Rosario Jackson, among others.

In honor of the second day of Día De Los Muertos (Day of the Dead), we asked the cast of #LAOFrida about artists of the past who have influenced and inspired their work and careers. Watch to see who they're remembering on this auspicious day.
