What is the world’s biggest killer? It's ischaemic heart disease, responsible for 16% of the world’s total deaths - that is equal to 9.5 million deaths in 2023. Stroke and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease were the second and third leading causes of deaths in 2023, responsible for approximately 11% (6.8 million) and 6% (3.6 million) of total deaths, respectively. 💔 Ischaemic heart disease is a condition where the heart muscle receives less blood flow and oxygen because the coronary arteries are narrowed or blocked. 🧠 Stroke is a medical emergency that occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted, either due to a blockage or bleeding. 🫁 Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a common lung disease causing restricted airflow and breathing problems. It is sometimes called emphysema or chronic bronchitis. New global health estimates bit.ly/4z5Vfsx

Neiman Marcus closed its downtown Dallas flagship yesterday. The store played a notable role in the history of desegregation in Dallas during the 1960s. Previously, Black shoppers across the US could enter department stores, but they weren't allowed to try on clothes before purchasing without adhering to certain conditions. For instance, they had to try on clothes over their clothes, put on protective covers when trying on hats, or weren't allowed to make returns once they purchased clothes and brought them home. These policies stemmed from the racist fear that white customers would refuse merchandise previously worn by Black shoppers. The downtown Neiman Marcus flagship was one of the first major Dallas businesses that broke with these practices. In 1961, the company desegregated its Zodiac Room, a swanky restaurant frequented by Dallas elites. Neiman Marcus later welcomed Black shoppers without restrictions. These victories were achieved through the efforts of Civil Rights activists, along with support from Neiman Marcus president Stanley Marcus, who was an early advocate for desegregation in Dallas. The Neiman Marcus store manager purportedly warned Marcus that he would ruin his business — and indeed, some shoppers closed their accounts — but he stuck with his decision. At the time of the flagship's closure, the Main Street store had been open for 112 years.

Courts have consistently ruled that denying or restricting a journalist’s entry to the White House on the basis of their reporting violates the First Amendment. Legal experts said they are skeptical that President Trump’s case will hold up. wapo.st/4iAYG5I

Robin Williams’ daughter is calling for fans to stop circulating AI-generated videos of her late father, telling them to leave him out of their “delusional bullsh*t": “Anyone who claims to be a fan who believes it clearly listened to his movies on mute because that voice is robotic and terrible. That said, a human made a robot create it, and to you I say: leave him out of your delusional bullsh*t and let him rest. If you cannot make your case without making a dead man make it more convincing for you, then tell me: who’s the one manipulating the public thru media now?” She continued: “I hate this cesspool of an app. It’s mostly bots and people willingly being duped by bots at this point so not sure why I feel the need to come back to clarify, but I love him, so I will. Just because he’s gone does not mean he’s now your puppet. Have some shame.” variety.com/2026/film/news/r…
