Don’t get caught by energy scams. Scammers may pressure you to pay your utility bill through apps like Cash App or Venmo. Legitimate utility companies will never ask for payment through third-party apps. Always use official, authorized payment methods. #StopScams

Independence is an important part of the cooperative difference. As National Cooperative Month continues, we’re highlighting the fourth cooperative principle: Autonomy and Independence. This principle helps ensure LCEC remains an independent, self-governing organization, focused on serving members and the communities we call home.

Don’t let energy vampires haunt your electric bill! Everyday devices like coffee makers, toasters, gaming consoles and chargers can continue drawing power even when they’re turned off. Unplug items when they’re not in use and consider ENERGY STAR® appliances and smart power strips to help keep those ghostly gadgets from draining your wallet. Visit LCEC.net for more LCEC news, energy-saving tips and information.

Sometimes, a thank you says it all. While assisting with restoration in the Florida Panhandle, LCEC recently received this message from a resident. Words like these are a reminder of the impact made when communities come together after a storm. Thank you to LCEC crews for representing the cooperative spirit.

During Cooperative Month, there may be no better example of Cooperation Among Cooperatives than mutual aid. Two years ago, LCEC experienced the power of mutual aid following Hurricane Milton. Now, LCEC employees returned that support to @MyCHELCO Electric Cooperative to assist with power restoration following impacts from Hurricane Isaias. Through the Florida Electric Cooperatives Association (FECA), utilities across the state can come together when help is needed, supporting one another and the members and communities they serve.
⚠️ 6:30 AM UPDATE-Crews & support staff are arriving for another full day of restoration efforts. While our eyes may be tired, our hearts are full. The overwhelming response from mutual aid is a powerful reminder of what sets the co-op model apart. Approx. 51,906 outages remain.
