6 years ago today I contracted #LongCovid Ill health retired from Nursing at 36, I’ve lost my career, my health, my independence and financial security. I’m not the Mum, Wife, Nurse or friend I want to be. I miss it all, and I’m angry that the #Covid decision makers walk free

🕯️For Gavin, a #LongCovid patient passing on September. Rest in love, Gavin 🖤 The fight continues. Long Covid deaths shall not be silent. #LongCovidKills
A fellow Long Covid friend, is gone. Forever missed. His last post was about 5 weeks ago, calling for paramedics and asking us to wish him luck Now he’s gone. I’m so sick of watching this disease destroy people while nothing real is being done. Year 7. People are still dying. People are still disappearing. And the world acts as if nothing is happening. RIP friend. You deserved better than this.

I had mild sleep apnea, for about 20 years before I got covid and then long covid. After that, my sleep was totally degraded. I did a laboratory sleep study which was basically horrific, only one complete sleep cycle out of four with over 60 apneas per hour, and tons of micro-arousals. I suspect this is related to some kind of covid induced neuro-inflammation.
Northwestern University studied 100 Long COVID patients with fatigue and found 53% had sleep apnea, including 20% with moderate to severe disease. Yet sleep apnea severity did not significantly explain their fatigue, brain fog, or cognitive impairment. link.springer.com/article/10…

The latest Covid Inquiry report on Module 6 fails to mention the Module 3 findings about the true transmission of COVID-19. It’s by aerosol/ airborne transmission for which surgical masks, hand washing and gowns do nothing. Only airborne mitigations protect. Why no mention?

💯 this 👇🏻
Jeremy Hunt on who spent 6 years as Health Secretary underfunding the NHS and social care Says that a lack of resources in the NHS and social care is why we had so many covid deaths in social care He then points out that gov prepared for a flu like pandemic and not a covid like pandemic, acknowledging that the two are very different My view: Which begs the question why the Conservatives, now Labour, the NHS, the JCVI and the UKHSA have all pretended that covid is no longer an issue and put focus purely on the flu COVID has not disappeared, yet protection is now targeted at a much narrower group: for autumn 2026, the JCVI recommends vaccination for people aged 75 and over, care-home residents and the immunosuppressed. Why has an ongoing risk been pushed so far down the public agenda, while flu remains a routine focus of winter planning? If the lesson is that failing to prepare costs lives, why are we acting as though COVID no longer deserves serious attention?

This situation is so not ok! 😱😱
There was so much coughing in my high school kid’s friend’s science class that the teacher asked, “Does anyone have COVID right now?” and 6 kids raised their hands (out of about 25) 🤦🏻‍♀️

Every 6 weeks I get a shot in the eye to treat the damage from an ocular stroke likely caused by SARS2. Clinic sets aside one evening per week for this. There have always been 15-25 others, mostly elders, getting treated. Tonight: only me. 5% infectious w/ SARS2 here now🤔 😷😷

Could detect as many as 100 airborne pathogens and harmful particles... This kind of device would change the landscape of HAI and disease transmission in schools.

Hallway medicine is unacceptable. Maskless healthcare is unacceptable. Why won't governments listen? Bring on Canada's CSA Standard Z94.4-25 immediately, so we can save our HCW's lives and ours.
thetyee.ca/Culture/2026/10/1… Please read! 17hr wait is NOT an abnormality... "We can’t lose sight of our humanity. A health-care system shouldn’t be judged only by whether care eventually arrives, but by what children and families are asked to endure to reach it." 1/2

It is disappointing that the module 6 report of the #covidinquiry does not say more about the potential of good ventilation and air filtration systems in preventing the spread of COVID drawing on evidence presented in module 3 on healthcare. Cleaner air could have enabled visits

From the @nytimes: "Doctors tend to be more concerned about the chance that someone will develop long Covid from repeated infections..." Ok, so they will wear N95 masks around patients right? 😷

If you haven't been tracking COVlD closely the past 8 weeks, it's important to know that the CDC has made sizable retroactive upward corrections over and over. What once looked like a small wave or wavelet has nearly doubled in height.
PMC COVlD Update, Oct 17, 2026 (U.S.) Early Release COVlD levels have rebounded into a secondary peak, as the CDC continues to retroactively correct levels upward. Outbreaks span 44 states (see Alt). Levels are falling in TX, still high out west, & up in the Northeast. 🧵1/3

So, we couldn't install ventilation systems in schools, cinemas, office buildings, etc., while they were empty in 2020, but mid- nineteenth-century engineers could raise entire buildings and streets in downtown Chicago, by as much as 14 feet, in response to water-borne illnesses. – at Galway, Ireland

I've had a few people privately concede that they know that repeat COVID infections are harmful but they try not to think about it because it's too overwhelming. I think a decent amount of people understand this but they are stuck.
Has anyone been able to have a real conversation with a 'normal' person about Covid in the past 6.5 years? If so, what was it like?
