Zooming down to London to start a new role as Interim Chief Programme Officer for @UKYouth. An exciting day! Brilliant @M_Potter90 will be holding the fort for while @TeachFirst in the North. Exciting times!
Perfect way to return back from mat leave - at the @SCHOOLSNE #SNEsummit22. I think this might be my 10th one over the years… do you get a prize for double figure attendance?

What an exceptionally beautiful thing this was. Thinking of the entire family at Balmoral 😔
An amazing day watching @Idharker officially become Chancellor @UniofNewcastle. ‘It is not about power, it is about empowerment’. She spoke of values, kindness and leading with heart. The first woman to become Chancellor here. I am a proud member of University Court today.
A pleasure to be invited to the @bccet celebration awards this evening. Such an inspirational group of colleagues. 600+ nominations trust wide. More events should be like this - simply saying well done and thank you for all people do. #teachertwitter #celebrate #inspiration

.@Asda has announced that between 25th july-3rd September all children under 16 can eat a hot or cold meal for £1 in their cafes. All day/every day nationwide with no minimum adult spend. This is to help parents with the cost of living crisis during the summer holidays – at Northern Ireland, United Kingdom

Yesterday the Times reported Professor David Abulafia’s defence of privilege.
I’ve written to them to point out the flaws in his argument.
Back to work @TeachFirst today after 13 glorious months of maternity leave. And also, back to twitter! So.. what have I missed? 😂 And any tips from parents who have had a great return to work? #edutwitter #returntowork #maternity #charity #workingmum
Today I head off on maternity leave which feels completely bonkers! @TeachFirst NE, NW and Y&H school partnerships are now in the very capable hands of @mandaseward. Taking a little Twitter break to focus on family time. Huge thanks to my colleagues who made today so special ❤️

NQT observation. NQT asked a question to the class, a pupil shouted out, NQT replied "If you heard it, steal it, now put your hand up to answer." All hands went up. Pupil smiled. Next question asked, pupil did not yell out. I heard it and will steal it!
If you aren’t yet aware of this policy, this is a nice little summary. A great thing for all new teachers. #earlycareerframework #cpd #ecf
Have you heard about the new 2-year Early Career Framework entitlement and support for schools and NQts from DfE from September 2021? More details here: gov.uk/government/publicatio… << please pass this on in your networks.

Please retweet. I’m looking for inspirational speakers, people in industry or ideas of activities that will help me inspire a truly wonderful set of Year 10 students in the North West. We need some inspiration and excitement after a rubbish year. Ideas and contacts welcome 💡

Y6: "Miss, will you make us a Shrek beanie please?"
Mrs Dowie: "When we get out of lockdown, I’ll make the whole of Y6 a Shrek beanie!"
Government: "Children will return to school on 8th March"
Mrs Dowie: 🤦♀️
😂😂😂
Happy International Women’s Day to all the amazing, strong, resilient women I know. Let’s keep holding each other up. #InternationalWomensDay #bemorebeyonce
Good luck to all for school tomorrow. Thinking of everyone who has worked so hard to prepare to welcome students back to the classroom and also to everyone who has worked their socks off during the last year.
Great to see the fab @Emma_Robins80 from @extoltrust take part in this @TeachFirst panel. Still time to sign up!
