What a fantastic S3 WWI Battlefields trip! So many memories made together and the group were outstanding. Shout out to our languages colleagues for helping to make this happen @LHSLanguages and to our S6 Captains @S6LHSYT. We can’t wait for the 2026 Battlefields trip 🏴🇫🇷🇧🇪!!
Day 5: Final visit was to the Last Post remembrance service at the Menin Gate. Over 500 members of the public attended. The service was incredibly moving & Rory M and Isabella M (S3) laid a wreath on behalf of @LarbertHigh . Dexter F did a fantastic job playing the bagpipes!
Day 5: We visited the trenches at Sanctuary Wood near Ypres. Pupils were shocked by the rawness of the conditions that soldiers had to endure. Summer R (S6) read Dulce et Decorum est at Vancouver corner where the first gas attack took place in the war. @LarbertHigh @S3LHSYT
Day 3 concludes with a special visit to the Hearts memorial and Deville Wood cemetery. Mr Taylor shared the very emotional story about his Great Uncle and the ultimate sacrifice he paid during the Battle of the Somme. Lest We Forget. @LarbertHigh @S3LHSYT @S6LHSYT p
Day 3: Our pupils have spent the afternoon learning about the stories of soldiers from the Larbert War Memorial who fought and died at the Battle of Some. Lest we forget. @LarbertHigh @S3LHSYT @S6LHSYT
This afternoon our S3 Historians and French pupils visited Cabaret Rouge to learn about people from the Larbert War Memorial. Excellent visit at Vimy Ridge exploring life in trenches and communication tunnels! @S3LHSYT @S6LHSYT @LarbertHigh
Day 1 of the S3 History WW1 Battlefields trip is truly underway! First stop is a visit to Notre Dame French National War cemetery. The group are in great spirits after the ferry ride from Dover across to Calais! 🇫🇷 @S3LHSYT @LarbertHigh
The group this morning at a very sunny Olympic Stadium! Currently on our way to the Reichstag before dinner.
An absolutely brilliant day in Munich where the group retraced the Munich Beer Hall Putsch and tasted some real German cuisine!
Early rise for the group today for our trip to Munich! Tired heads but everyone so excited for the day ahead!
