Off topic but ALCS Game 5 last night was low-key one of the best in recent memory. The California Angels, with several ex Edmonton Trappers, up 3 games to 1, looking to eliminate the cursed Red Sox. The Angels are up 5-2 in the top of the ninth. Here's Al Michaels:

The trade that helped build the 1986 Celtics wasn’t simply about adding another star. It was about finding the perfect piece for an already great team.
When Boston acquired Bill Walton in 1985, Larry Bird immediately saw what Walton could bring. His passing, basketball IQ and experience gave the Celtics something they didn’t have before.
Bird also understood the biggest challenge: keeping Walton healthy.
Walton accepted his role, became the NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year and gave Boston another elite passer, a reliable big man and a veteran presence that made an already dangerous team even harder to stop.
And in 1986, it all came together.
The Celtics won the NBA championship, while Walton proved that he didn’t need to be a starter to become one of the most valuable pieces of a championship team. 🏆

22 years ago today: July 24, 2004, Jason Varitek stuffed his glove in A‑Rod’s face at Fenway on national TV. The Sox then stormed back with 3 in the 9th off Mariano, capped by Bill Mueller’s 2‑run walk‑off. An 11–10, four‑hour chaos classic that flipped the whole season.

RIP to sports radio legend Eddie Andelman, who in 2022 regaled us with his memories and tall tales of putting together the first King of the Ring and the 1985 AWA Wrestling for a Cure event in Boston. Glad we got some time with him before it was too late.
