Sam Franklin Jr. deserved better from the NFL.
My notes column, leading off with the flawed process the league used to discipline the Bills safety and ignore Raiders OT DJ Glaze’s actions:

The final report from the nation's capital: Alex Tuch gets a leg up on season series vs. #Sabres with OT winner for #Caps.
"I loved playing for the Sabres and I think everyone knows that. ... To be able to get the game-winner was pretty special."

Raiders offensive tackle DJ Glaze was not fined for his actions during the game last Sunday.
Hard to believe. Still not clear why Sam Franklin Jr. was fined.
Video showed Glaze hit Franklin in the groin at least once. His agents said it happened twice.
Statement from Bills DB Sam Franklin Jr.’s agents, Harold C. Lewis and Christian Addison, after appeals officer James Thrash reduced Franklin’s one-game suspension to a $14,926 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct:
“As we said from the start, Sam did not and would never spit at an opponent, and there was no evidence that he did. We're glad the suspension was overturned and grateful to the hearing officer for a fair and thorough review. It's unfortunate the league suspended Sam in the first place based on an unsupported accusation that received so much undeserved attention, and we hope the outcome is covered just as widely. We also hope the league takes a serious look at the opposing player's conduct, including striking Sam in the groin twice during the game. We're glad this is behind him, so Sam can get back to focusing on his teammates and next Sunday.”

For Alex Tuch, there’s an off-ice reunion before #Caps and #Sabres get down to business Saturday.
“I'm waiting to see who's the first one that's gonna give me a little cheap shot. My money's on 'Benny' (Zach Benson)."
My column from practice in DC: buffalonews.com/sports/colum…
The NFL needs to rethink how suspensions are handled. Don’t announce until after an appeal hearing.
People jumped to conclusions and assumed Franklin was guilty.

Bills safety Sam Franklin Jr. won his appeal.
The NFL announced that it reduced his discipline from a one-game suspension to a $14,926 fine for unsportsmanlike conduct. Franklin was accused of spitting at Raiders tackle DJ Glaze.
More details on the arbitrator's decision.
Franklin was adamant that the league got it wrong. His agents were emphatic in their defense of him.
Bills will have the captain and special teams contributor for game vs. Ravens.

Tough to beat anybody when you score one goal. The Sabres miss that Alex Tuch guy. But they’re not getting enough difficult saves.
Weird start to their season.
My latest from KeyBank Center: #Sabres still support UPL even amid troubling signs and lousy numbers. The goalie revealed to me GMJK spoke to him Tuesday and told him not to worry about trade rumors.
"It's great that he found me and we talked about it."

Sam Franklin Jr's agents, Harold C. Lewis and Christian Addison, released a statement ahead of the Bills safety's appeal hearing:
"We adamantly deny Sam spit at anyone. We look forward to the process fully exonerating him tomorrow at the hearing and the apology he deserves."
Bills safety Sam Franklin Jr. denies the allegations and plans to appeal. A few more details at the link below.
I expect Franklin to release a statement soon to defend himself:

Bills DC Jim Leonhard says the "biggest thing" of the bye week will be to clean up coverage and helping secondary play with more confidence.
"There's too many times where we look confused when I don't think there's enough options for us to be that confused," he said.
Former Bills kicker Matt Prater gets his first workout of the season.
The #Rams are working out veteran kickers Brandon McManus and Matt Prater tomorrow, sources say. Over three decades of NFL experience combined between the two as Sean McVay & Co. look for a replacement for the injured Blake Grupe.
Definitely helps to add another leader to the Bills' secondary. Kani Walker, an undrafted rookie, is also on the practice squad.
Can confirm the Buffalo Bills are bringing back CB Tre'Davious White via the practice squad, per source. @AdamSchefter first to report.
This will be White's third stint in Buffalo, and has been in the works. He played 16 games last season for Bills. And won the media award !!!
