Trust @PrivateEyeNews to tell it like it is. Wood burning is disproportionately polluting. It may be aesthetic but it’s not ethical if you have alternative heating. What if we all decided to give in to this fantasy?!?

“Oh, that's the fire front. It's broken through. It's broken through, guys. The fire can no longer be held back. The wind is extremely strong. This is the current situation at Gunung Leuser National Park, at the main camp, Tenting Harapan. The volunteers have tried their best, but sadly, the fire has broken through. We can't hold it back because the wind is so strong, and the flames are getting closer to the post. We and our fellow volunteers have done everything we can, especially the members of Pokdarwis Tanjung Harapan, Mas Marka Tanjung Harapan, and the relevant authorities. Oh God, this is so heartbreaking.”

Another global Nature summit is underway, this time in Armenia. All countries must work harder to meet agreed targets, including the UK. Are we up for being leaders, or do we think protecting the web of life is too expensive, inconvenient and complicated? naturalengland.blog.gov.uk/2…

Brazil’s vote was about more than politics. It was about Amazon, Indigenous rights, clean air & our planet’s future. With Lula’s re-election over Bolsonaro, Brazilians hv chosen between protecting nature & exploiting it for corporate profit. Destroy nature & it will hit back!

Lula's election in Brazil is a lifeline for the Amazon. A Bolsonaro victory could have been terminal for the rain forest. This article explains the stakes. lab.org.uk/brazil-the-threat…

🔻🌳The world's remaining intact forest landscapes are shrinking. What's causing it? From 2000 to 2013, timber harvesting was the primary cause of reduction. Yet since 2020, fire has become the leading driver. How can we protect these unique forests? Find out: go.wri.org/intact-forests-tw

Why do shareholders get the rewards when workers create the wealth a company generates? Is it time to rethink just what companies are for and to require that the rewards be shared more fairly? youtu.be/15r28WaimP8?si=oiL5…

What a relief! Lula’s unexpected victory gives hope for the Amazon. He has dramatically cut felling, while Bolsonaro’s plans would doubtless have taken it past its tipping point, ensuring total eventual destruction with huge global consequences. euronews.com/2026/10/19/amaz…

🚨 This is getting seriously dangerous. The @BBC is withdrawing educational material on climate change and migration following accusations of political bias. CLIMATE CHANGE IS NOT A POLITICAL OPINION. It's established science. MIGRATION IS A FACT OF HUMAN HISTORY. Its economic, social and cultural contributions are documented, as are the challenges it can create. Immigration policy is open to debate, but children deserve to understand the evidence, not have political uncomfortable facts filtered out. Political impartiality must never mean treating established evidence as ideology. Education should teach children to examine reality critically, not sanitise it to avoid political controversy. #ClimateChange #Immigration
Good. It was utter madness that the BBC ever thought it was acceptable to publish “educational tools” pushing left-wing political agendas onto schoolchildren in the first place. I wrote to the BBC calling for them to be removed, & I’m glad they’ve listened.

Similar to Hungary, another illiberal, populist, pro-Putin, pro-Trump leader fell through elections in Serbia today. Maybe the tide is turning?

Severe deforestation has led to all Gibbons being endangered. These incredible primates are known for their loud singing through the rainforest, but these melodies have mostly disappeared. 🌳🎶❌ Most species remain in small forest patches, with poaching also threatening. 🥲🐒

Please don't leave Halloween pumpkins to rot in your garden, or dump them in the countryside. Eating pumpkins can make hedgehogs, birds and other animals poorly. Instead, dispose of pumpkins in a covered compost bin or council food waste bin. More: littlegreenspace.org.uk/feat…

Not one mention of the #climatecrisis either from PM Burnham or the journalist who wrote this … so we’re left with a piece that addresses the effects and not the causes of the “unexpected events” … as if they ‘just happen’ … banning disposable barbecues all over again

US: Bird flu has been spreading for around two months on a Utah mink farm holding thousands of animals. None have been culled, workers aren't being monitored, and the USDA says it doesn't regulate mink. So thousands of animals are exposed, workers could be at risk, and nobody seems to be taking responsibility. theguardian.com/us-news/2026…
