The earthly paradise did not end when Adam and Eve learned that they would have to toil by the sweat of their brow and give birth in pain. It ended the day they became aware of a master who forbade them from eating an apple.

"Arabic numerals" (0โ9) actually originated in India, were refined in Baghdad, and were brought to Europe by Fibonacci because of his dadโs job in North Africa.
Even Fibonacciโs work was directly copied from mathematical concepts that not only originated but were common in India. To his credit, however, he openly acknowledged their Indian origins rather than claiming them as his own or attempting to appropriate them.
Zero was invented by a legendary Indian mathematician named Aryabhatta.
It was an Indian astronomer who defined zero as a number, but the concept of zero, as in "nothing", was already in known by the Babylonians a few centuries before him who used a placeholder to denote "nothing".
But, they never included zero as a number in the timeline. Understanding nothing and giving nothing a value are two very different things.
Itโs the reason there is no year 0, we go from 1 bc to 1 ad.

My position is a humanism without transcendence, a liberalism devoid of collectivist illusions, and a respect for history that stops short of submission to it.

It is one of the first documented examples of what would later become known as a "blood libel" or an accusation of ritual murder. There is no historical, archaeological, or textual evidence to support it. It is a form of antijew propaganda from antiquity, similar to other slanders that circulated at the time (such as the claims that Jews worshipped a donkeyโs head, or that they were lepers expelled from Egypt, etc.). Over the centuries, it was recycled and transformed, eventually evolving into the medieval and modern versions of the blood libel.

Libya's Dar al-Ifta, the country's influential Islamic religious authority, has issued a fatwa prohibiting Muslims from buying, selling, or wearing clothing displaying the Nike logo.
The religious ruling, approved by Grand Mufti Sheikh Sadiq al-Gharyani, argues that Nike's name and logo are associated with ancient Greek polytheism.
Nike takes its name from the Greek goddess of victory, while the company's famous swoosh logo was inspired by the goddess's wings.
The fatwa argues that displaying such symbols is incompatible with Islamic monotheism and therefore religiously impermissible.
The ruling also accuses Nike of supporting Israel and calls for a broader boycott of companies accused of backing the country.

Healing and Reconciliation After October 7, Between Israelis and Palestinians? Today, I met Michal Uziyahu, Mayor of the Eshkol Regional Council in Israelโs โGaza Envelope,โ home to many of the communities hardest hit by Hamasโs October 7 attack. Roughly 70% of the massacre occurred within Eshkol, including the sites of the Nova music festival and the kibbutzim of Beโeri, Reโim, Nir Oz, Holit, Kissufim, Kerem Shalom, and Sufa. Hundreds of Eshkol residents were murdered that day, and 119 hostages were taken from its communities. Michal shared countless stories of pain, loss, and suffering endured by her residents on a scale few could ever imagine.
She described a community whose worldview was rooted in coexistence, partnership, and long-term peace with its Palestinian neighbors in Gaza. Like many leaders in the region, she had envisioned a future that included industrial and economic zones where Gazans could work for international companies in technology, manufacturing, education, and other sectors in the kibbutzim near Gaza. Those aspirations were shattered by Hamasโs barbaric violence and Jihadist terrorism on October 7.
Since then, Michal has led the effort to rebuild her communities and restore the spirit of the kibbutzim that became ground zero for one of the most consequential chapters in the Israel and Palestine conflict. She insists that her nearly 20,000 residents are survivors, not victims. Rather than trauma centers, she is helping to establish resilience centers. Instead of fostering dependency, she is working to create a model of recovery, perseverance, and renewal.
Most movingly, Michal demonstrated a profound capacity to recognize the humanity of Palestinians in Gaza. She expressed genuine sorrow for the loss of innocent life, including the deaths of dozens of my own family members in Israeli airstrikes. While we share the goal of ending Hamasโs rule over Gaza, we also acknowledged the reality that our peoplesโ futures remain intertwined, even though healing, reconciliation, and the rebuilding of trust will take years. I offered my deepest condolences, sympathy, and apology for everything her community and other โGaza Envelopeโ residents have endured since October 7.
Michal is currently in the United States raising resources to rebuild her communities physically, psychologically, educationally, and economically. Contrary to common assumptions, much of the funds raised after October 7 did not reach those most in need, a reality I had long heard about and which Michal confirmed. Many โGaza Envelopeโ communities had already suffered years of neglect from the Israeli government, the Finance Ministry, and even segments of Jewish philanthropic networks. The devastation of October 7 only compounded those challenges after what was the worst security failure in Israelโs history and the deadliest single day for Jews since the Holocaust.
That is why I encourage those with the means to support Michal and the Eshkol Regional Council in their efforts toward rebuilding, rehabilitation, and resilience to do so. @BillAckman @wolfejosh @shaunmmaguire @AriDavidPaul @AdamMilstein @jfunders @eJPhil @JCFNY @schusterman_fdn @InsidePhilanthr @TheAssociated @WilliamDaroff @MikeBloomberg @Spokoiny @JCCAssociation
This is what radical pragmatism, shared empathy, holding space for multiple truths and tragedies, and advancing healing between Israelis and Palestinians looks like. My hope is that both the Israeli communities surrounding Gaza and the Palestinian people of Gaza can one day experience lasting peace, security, and coexistence.

๐จ WHY I SUPPORT ABORTION RIGHTS
I believe women should have the right to decide what happens to their own bodies.
Pregnancy affects a woman's health, future, finances and entire life. No woman should be forced to continue a pregnancy against her will.
Medical emergencies make this issue even more urgent. When a pregnancy threatens a woman's life or poses a serious risk to her health, she should have immediate access to abortion care without unnecessary delays, legal intimidation or political interference.
A woman should never have to wait until she is at death's door before doctors are allowed to save her life.
You can personally oppose abortion without forcing your beliefs on everyone else.
Bodily autonomy matters. Medical care matters. Women's lives matter.
The question isn't whether you would choose abortion.
It's whether you have the right to make that decision for someone else, even when their life is on the line.
I support the right to choose, the right to safe medical care, and the right of every woman to make decisions about her own body.
