As Member State ambassadors pay tribute at the Srebrenica Memorial Centre today, my thoughts are especially with the Mothers of Srebrenica.
They have endured unimaginable loss, yet remain among the strongest voices for reconciliation, rooted in truth, justice, remembrance, and the possibility of a different future.
The European Union was founded on that same belief: that even after the most terrible crimes, former enemies can choose to build a common future in which such suffering can never happen again.
That is the future the Western Balkans deserves and people can build.

Unilateral calls to alter the constitutional framework—whether through secession, redrawing borders, integration with neighbouring states, or the abolition of entities—run contrary to the Dayton Peace Agreement, as well as Bosnia and Herzegovina’s EU path.

The public glorification afforded to a convicted war criminal in Belgrade is an affront to the memory of the victims, their families, and all those who suffered during the conflicts in the Western Balkans.
True reconciliation cannot be built on revisionism, the denial of genocide or the honouring of perpetrators.
Serbia's path into the European Union requires an unequivocal commitment to fundamental European values and historical truth.
There is no place in Europe for the glorification of war criminals.

The images from Ratko Mladić’s funeral yesterday in Belgrade were shocking.
Ratko Mladić was a convicted war criminal. He was responsible for genocide, war crimes, and crimes against humanity. He died while serving a life sentence for the Srebrenica genocide and other crimes.
The elements of official support and the presence of some senior Serbian officials at the funeral are deeply regrettable. They demonstrate a failure to confront a dark chapter in Europe’s recent history and contradict the values underpinning Serbia’s path towards the European Union.
Our thoughts are with all the victims of the crimes committed in the countries of former Yugoslavia.

Had a phone call with Minister Albares. He informed me that, after the sustained efforts, practically all those who had entered Ceuta have returned. Not a single person has crossed to mainland EU. We will remain in close contact and are in touch with ministers across Europe.

Parliament calls for renewed commitment to Bosnia and Herzegovina's EU accession path.
The country's political leaders must renew their commitment to EU membership and deliver long-overdue reforms without delay.

Day 1 of my visit to the six Western Balkans partners.
In Sarajevo, I met with the members of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Presidency, Denis Bećirović, Željka Cvijanović, Željko Komšić and the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers, Borjana Krišto.
The country is just a few steps away from the next tangible phase in the opening of accession negotiations. Now is the time to focus on the goal and accelerate the pace of reforms.
The road ahead is demanding but there are some low hanging fruits to seize if Bosnia and Herzegovina delivers on the alignment with the EU legislation.
Ahead of the EU-Western Balkans Summit in Tivat, let’s build on the momentum for EU enlargement!
