A 60 cm humanoid robot taking careful first steps as it learns to walk with reinforcement learning. The skeleton-frame robot runs on 27 miniature torque servos developed in-house.
Per the creator, the gait is first trained in simulation, then deployed on the real robot for further tuning, and the walking is still being refined. Once it walks well, the plan is to give it a skin and an outfit for a proper debut.
Why it matters: small humanoids like this are a low-cost, low-risk way to test sim-to-real learning, and custom actuators at this scale could make capable education and home robots far more affordable.
