In this thread, we'll analyze the "Devil's Card Game".
This is a super useful thought exercise. It can teach us several key concepts in economics, probability, betting, hedging, investor/market psychology, etc.
It is extremely difficult to build a project that capitalizes on branding, it is also difficult to identify these projects early. But ones that are successful in doing so will make the most profit and outlast everyone else.
Being a member of a well known project can also help the holder gain influence and followers. Holders of BAYC can gain thousands of followers instantly with their PFP.
Examples: MAYC and BAKC from BAYC, BEANZ from Azuki, Moonbirds from PROOF. These sub projects do not need utility or even good art to reach high volumes, its success comes from its association with the parent project.
Branding can help a project and its holders capitalize heavily. A blue chip project can easily create new lines of NFTs that are extremely profitable.
Access and membership can profit holders without maintaining a high volume. These are good for investors with small capital.
However, investors with huge capital can use this utility to collect large amounts of passive income. Think dividends in stocks.
P2E, breeding, and coin yielding is only profitable if the project volume is consistently high. In other words, it is essential the project constantly attracts new buyers.
Most projects do this by implementing utility. This can be yielding passive assets to holders (P2E, breeding, generating coins), or giving holders access to more profits (Collaborations/partnerships, mint market, alpha groups).
Many projects rely on art to attract buyers. Good art can only attract buyers for short periods of time. People will get bored of them and move on to new things. A project can only survive by constantly creating new ideas that will keep volumes high.
Right now there are two factors in NFT projects that I’m looking for in long term holds:
Utility and branding
Here's why projects that do well in either or both will last for years.
Always look at Discord chat when minting. Many things claimed there will not be true and will likely be chaotic, but they will affect minters which affects sales which affects your profit.
