Madison, the darling of top 10 lists everywhere, has a new distinction. According to the Public Toilet Index, the city is No. 1 in public toilets.
The city parks leader is glad not to be No. 2

Voter No. 1,533 at Lapham Elementary School. Steady stream of voters but in-and-out within 5 minutes, plus a sweet new sticker for my Santa.
Feeling grateful for the local reporters covering #ElectionDay but glad I don't have to be staring at a screen, hitting refresh tonight!

Madison set a record for snowfall of a trace yesterday (10/13). This is the first occasion snowfall has been reported on 10/13 in Madison since records began in 1884.
This is one block from where my family celebrated my mom's retirement on a great vacation in May. Super devastating to see. Sending positive thoughts tonight to all affected by Hurricane Ian.

Gannett journalists throughout the nation are taking an hour off today from 1 to 2 p.m. CST to bring attention to our concerns about upcoming layoffs at the nation's largest newspaper chain--even as its CEO makes nearly $8 million in annual pay.
Another thought: How about investing in our journalism instead of multimillion exec salaries and bonuses in the hundreds of thousands? Mike Reed made $7.7M last year, 160 times the average Gannett employeeβs salary. poynter.org/commentary/2022/β¦

After six and a half years and nearly 2,000 bylines, today is my last day reporting for the @WiStateJournal.
It's been a truly rewarding experience telling stories about Madison, its people, surrounding communities and the state.
I'll continue to be an enthusiastic subscriber to the State Journal as a source for high-quality local journalism. If you don't already, please consider financially supporting the local news outlets around you.

Not all the interviews made it into the story, as this is not an easy topic to talk about.
A massive tree fell across East Johnson Street just past Ingersoll Street in #Madison, completely blocking the entire road #wiwx @CityofMadison @WiStateJournal
