Most AI + UX content just lists tools to use. This explains what's actually happening under the hood, and why CLI tools are the biggest opportunity UX folks haven't touched yet. Part 1 of a series. Written with Claude. Naturally.

It's not bad enough that I was hit by a truck, that I had my life turned upside down, and that I live in constant pain with severe nerve damage... @ServiceOntario l gives instructions their own staff refuse to follow so I can get an accessible parking pass in less than 4 weeks

I hear @RedBarnBrewin kicks people out for using the "wrong" washroom. What an unfortunate disappointment.
What type of message does it even send kicking somebody out for just using the toilet?

Learn how to use Fitts’s Law to improve your UX/UI Designs 🚀🔖
Fitts’s Law was introduced by a psychologist Paul Fitts in 1954. The law has a big importance in human-computer interaction and defines the correlation between a cursor movement or a touch gesture and an interface element.
Overview:
What is Fitt's Law?
The time required to acquire a target area is a function of the ratio between the distance to and size of the target.
How does it apply to User Interface design?
- Interactive elements should be distinguished from non-
- Sometimes a designer can predict where is the prime pixel (the point from which the user will continue interaction). Position more important and related UI elements closer to this pixel.
- Magic pixels are the furthest areas from the prime pixel. Avoid placing anything important into these areas.
- The outer edges and corners of the UI can be reached with greater speed than anywhere else in the display, due to pinning action of the screen.
- UI element is easier to select if its size is increased or the distance to it is decreased.
Practical Tips for Using Fitts’s Law:
- Reduce the distance from one point to the next in UI and make the target object large enough to enable prompt detection and selection of interactive elements without sacrificing accuracy.
- Make every combination of a checkbox/radio + label as the entirely clickable area.
- Don’t go overboard with putting elements too close to each other or making it too big. Follow visual balance and hierarchy, give the user a breathing room.
- Establish a meaningful visual hierarchy in UI elements and content.
- Appropriate grouping is important in articulating functionality.
- Provide enough space between elements for error-prevention.

Valve is one of the most agile companies I know of. No Sprints. No backlogs. No frameworks. No Scrum. No SAFe. Just pure agility built around iterative development and feedback. It's worth 15 minutes of your life to see how they work: youtu.be/9Yomqk0C6kE 1/2

So...I thought Photoshop was in trouble because of AI.
But now, Adobe's new AI-enhanced Photoshop beta is out. And it's one of the most magical things I've ever seen.

It's not often I see a new cozy game being developed that I'm truly excited about. Tiny Glade by @PounceLight looks like every cozy gamer's soft, sepia-toned dream come true. If the gameplay is half as immersive as the demos, it's going to be a smash! Can't wait to see the UX!
Ahh the mark of a company that definitely cares about its customers and their user experiences.
Hey @Apple, public shaming time.
I ordered a MBP as a Guest; when I went to link it to my Apple ID you created another unverified, inaccessible account with my Apple ID email. After several hours of being bounced around Apple support I was told that I would need to return it. WTF
There are two types of people. Those who show borders between every row of a table. And those who hide the bottom-border of the :last-child.
I quite enjoy the calm, introspective way this piece is written. I remember the point in my career when I began shifting the conversation to frame the problem we're solving rather than checking boxes of acceptance criteria.
If you bring designs to a stakeholder meeting, they will assume you need help and try to make design decisions for you.
Snap them out of their semantic context to have more productive conversations, and avoid getting stuck pixeling up their ideas.
