- mormon sales guy
- third-gen vietnamese-american forward-deployed engineer

I hate when people make commands in the form of a question. "Would you mind cleaning this up?" Yes I probably would but I know that's not the answer you want. So why ask the question with the pretence of an illusion of choice?

Agent swarms are like sex in high school. Everyone claims they’re doing it, nobody knows what they’re doing with it, and most of the demonstrations are fake.

The standard of living used to be so high that a minimum wage worker could afford to give a whole pack of smokes to each trick or treater instead of just one or two loosies. Failed fucking empire

First they came for the software engineers and I said nothing for I was not a software engineer.
Then they came for the mathematicians and I said nothing for I was not a mathematician.
Then they came for the lawyers and I said "make sure you get all the lawyers"

Someone rewrote Kafka in Rust and embedded it in Postgres using pgrx 🤯
Kafgres is a Rust-based Kafka broker that runs within Postgres. Kafka clients connect to Postgres on port 9092 and literally can't tell the difference. 🧵

A new risk for mathematicians: a colleague reports that immediately after they posted an abstract of their upcoming talk online, a student elsewhere used AI to derive proofs of the stated results and then posted it on the arxiv.
My colleague hadn't posted to arxiv yet.

Side note, modern ethernet, gfx, uefi and secure boot also otw. Porting what I can from Linux. Too bad I'll never be able to release this...

Australian measurements that confuse the rest of the world
1. “Just down the road”
- Anywhere from 2 minutes to 2 hours.
2. “A couple”
- Two… or whatever number feels reasonable.
3. “In a minute”
- Not immediately. Possibly not today.
4. “A bit warm”
- The steering wheel is melting.
5. “Bit chilly”
- Anything below 20°C.
6. “Not far”
- Pack snacks and fill the petrol tank.
7. “Around the corner”
- There may be several corners.
8. “I’ll be there shortly”
- I haven’t left the house yet.
9. “Just one drink”
- No reliable measurement currently exists.
10. “Not bad”
- This is the highest form of Australian praise.
