Today, we held a mediation meeting with Yalelo Gulu City branch and Gulu City Fish Vendors, chaired by City Mayor H/W Labeja Julius Acire to find common ground that works for everyone, the Yalelo, the Gulu City Fresh Fish Vendors, City Council and the consumers.
The discussion centred on wellbeing, harmony and rebuilding a better working relationship between the two parties. Both sides agreed to work together, address concerns as they arise and find practical solutions to issues that may affect the final consumer.
As Laroo-Pece Division, Gulu City, we remain open to investors and businesses. Their presence creates jobs, generates revenue, boosts economic activity and contributes to the growth and wellbeing of our people.
At the end of the day, we need each other. When businesses, vendors, the City and consumers work together, everyone benefits.

As we open roads in our communities, I have asked our engineer to make sure the youth from the very areas where we are working get opportunities for casual work.
The benefit should go beyond the road itself. Our young people can earn something to help with school needs.
If we can create these small opportunities along the way, why not?

Today was a good reminder that keeping our city clean is a responsibility we all share. I appreciate our Chief Cleaner, Deputy @IGGUganda @DrOkiria, fellow leaders, security forces, business owners, fuel station operators, drivers, boda boda riders, staff and residents who came out to observe the National Cleaning Day.
From the streets to the communities, everyone’s contribution mattered. Let’s carry this spirit forward and make keeping our city clean part of our daily responsibility.
To everyone who participated, woro keken.

Thank you, the people of Pageya-Laroo, for turning up for the community meeting on road opening, maintenance and other related technical matters.
Yesterday, together with @LarooPece Town Clerk, Engineer, Chairperson and Secretary for Works and Technical Services, area Councilors and LCs, we held a productive community meeting in Pageya Laroo Ward to prepare residents for the upcoming road development works and to listen to and address concerns from the community.
We are encouraged by the constructive discussions and the willingness of our people to embrace development.
As I have always said, we will not simply bring a bulldozer to open roads without first engaging the community. We must listen, address concerns, agree on practical solutions and prepare our people for the work ahead.
There is a need for development, but our people must also be prepared and involved in the process.

After road inspection in Forest Cell, Pece Prison Ward, I found the boys chilling in the area code and decided to join them for a few minutes.
Stories, laughter and a little catch-up. They even reminded me they had respected the alcohol directive and waited until 3pm. “Mayor, it’s now 3pm” 😂
Work is serious, but connecting with our young people should never be forgotten.

Forest Cell is already taking shape, and in just a few days, the difference will be clear for everyone to see.
To the other cells in Pece Prison Ward, including Lukung Cell and Pece Prison Cell, we are coming to you next. Once the roads in Forest Cell are opened, the bulldozer will move to the next cell and we will keep going until the entire Pece Prison Ward is covered.
I sincerely appreciate our staff at the Division Headquarters, as well as the cooperation and support of the people of Laroo-Pece Division.
This progress is a result of working together and staying committed to improving our communities.

Yesterday, when we visited Forest Cell, Pece Prison Ward, moving through was a real challenge because there was no proper access road.
Today, we returned to check on the progress as we continues the road opening works.
People can now move freely because they finally have roads.

H/W @PaLabeja, together with the Division Mayor of Laroo-Pece H/W @GifterAber, conducted a road inspection across key access roads in the division, including Kano Road, Gule Road, Aket-Aket Road, Larumu and AOL Betty Road.
The inspection focused on identifying priority areas for road improvement, drainage and access, while ensuring that planned works do not interfere with existing water and electricity infrastructure. The City will work closely with @nwsc_ug and @UEDCLTD to protect utility lines during implementation.
The Mayor also reaffirmed that @GuluCityCouncil will dedicate funds towards backstreet redevelopment, construction of new drainage systems and rehabilitation of existing ones.
Improved access roads are not only about mobility, they are essential for faster emergency and security response, easier access to health facilities, improved connectivity and better livelihoods for residents.
Replying to @GifterAber @LarooPece
Good start and making a good difference. Who can make this difference to happen if not you, Hon Gifter? Keep going. Keep shining. A woman, if given the opportunity and good support, can make a huge difference in leadership. Let the true spirit of Acoli fly.
