Happy Birthday Monte Johnson, out of Denver, Colorado; 6’4 239; Monte Johnson’s legacy is defined by his legendary performance in the “Ghost to the Post” game on December 24, 1977. Playing linebacker for the @Raiders against the @Colts in the AFC Divisional Round, Johnson anchored a grueling double-overtime 37-31 victory while unknowingly playing through a life-altering injury—Johnson recorded a massive 22 tackles and two sacks against Colts quarterback Bert Jones. It wasn’t until after the final whistle that team doctors discovered Johnson had sustained a broken vertebrae in his neck during regulation play. Despite the intense physical trauma, he refused to leave the field, cementing his reputation for ultimate grit; 75 Today….

Happy Birthday @jessiewarmstead out of Dallas, Texas; 6’1 237; Jessie Armstead holds a legendary yet complex status in Texas high school football history as one of the most dominant and heavily recruited linebackers to ever come out of the state—Playing for the powerhouse David W. Carter High School Cowboys in Dallas under legendary coach Freddie James, Armstead became a rare three-time high school All American and was named the SuperPrep National High School Player of the Year. During his senior season, the 6’1 237 pound middle linebacker was an absolute tackling machine, registering nearly 200 tackles—Armstead famously avoided the legal troubles that plagued his teammates, credited to a promise he made to his mother to stay out of trouble. His individual high school greatness was never eclipsed by the scandal. He translated his Texas high school stardom into a legendary collegiate career at @CanesFootball where he was a two-time national champion and the only modern linebacker permitted to wear the coveted #1 jersey—before putting together a 5-time Pro Bowl career in the @NFL primarily with the @Giants ; 56 Today….

📍Tulsa, OK - Garth Brooks called Oklahoma “The Land Of Common Sense” last night at the BOK Center. Says he misses Braums ice cream. I have mixed opinions about the guy but based off clips from his stop in Oklahoma he does put on a good show. I just think he’s a strange animal. Something about him just rubs me the wrong way. He’s still a country music legend. He put the genre on the map in the 90s. But when I think about artists from Oklahoma who kept their Okie spirt alive after their fame. Toby Keith would be number one. Garth is just a woke rich elite pretending to be an Okie Every Man.

After leaving the course Saturday @StifelCC, @JerryKelly13PGA and his son Cooper encountered an overturned car off the highway. Cooper kicked in the windshield and helped two men exit the vehicle. "I was just really proud of Coop," Kelly said. "Going up to a smoking car that's spilling gas and scary situation ... he did a fantastic job."

Dave Aranda is a great man and one of the best people I have had the pleasure of getting to know. It didn’t work out at Baylor, but he will always have a friend, brother and supporter in me. Love ya Coach 🙏🏾
