Hell yes 🔥
This is the first official teaser for one film in our anthology, Stewards of the Game; The Untold Story of Lacrosse.
In Haudenosaunee circles, you rarely hear players talk about “creating” or “owning” the game. Rather, it is described as a gift from the Creator, passed down through generations. During their short time on earth, they are the game’s caretakers, or stewards.
The roots of this project reach back to the early Inside Lacrosse era of the mid-1990s.
What started as a film celebrating the lacrosse stick evolved into the story of Onondaga craftsman Alf Jacques. As we spent more time with Indigenous players, teams, and communities, our production team grew, and the project gradually expanded into an anthology of four distinct films.
One traces the game's journey from the birth of modern lacrosse in the late 1800s to today, including the emergence of the Haudenosaunee Nationals and their ongoing fight for a place on the Olympic stage.
Two others explore the remarkable Thompson family and the evolution of women's box lacrosse at Six Nations.
We still have many miles to go, but rough cuts of all four films are nearly complete. At this creative turning point, after years of sharing informal glimpses, we wanted to release our first official teaser.
It felt fitting to begin with Alf Jacques, the man whose story helped launch this project over ten years ago.
Alf dedicated his life to preserving traditional knowledge through his craft, and to traveling and sharing stories that revealed the game’s deeper meaning.

Have to think heavy 🐅 flavor here. Because if there’s anything Nest knows better than lacrosse, it’s Jersey lacrosse.

@NLL under the🔬
I started looking through the NLL’s publicly available IRS filings, and I think lacrosse fans deserve to see these numbers.
Commissioner Brett Frood received $1.19 million in reported compensation in FY2024 and $850,000 in FY2025.
For perspective, the standard NLL veteran maximum salary in 2025–26 was $42,000.
Frood’s $850,000 is more than 20 times that figure.
It’s also $40,000 MORE than the $810,000 salary cap for an entire NLL team’s player roster.
And since Frood arrived, the league has gone from 15 active franchises to 12.
Now, executive compensation and player salaries are different things. And the commissioner’s office was highly compensated before Frood arrived.
But if the justification for paying a commissioner this kind of money is his ability to grow and strengthen the business, shouldn’t we be examining the results?
Our players are the product. Many work other jobs to support their families while competing at the highest level of box lacrosse.
Meanwhile, the league is losing franchises and professional opportunities.
What performance benchmarks justify this compensation?
What is the Board of Governors measuring?
And how does the league explain this disparity to the players who make the NLL worth watching?
These aren’t private rumors. They’re publicly reported financial figures.
I think the lacrosse community deserves some answers.

Onward 📈 👏
My professional journey and my lacrosse journey have each taken me to some incredible places. I’m so excited that, after all these years, those two paths have finally come together. Excited to get to work as the new Director of Finance at @USA_Lacrosse
NNP’s sources 👇 jk jk. Assuming the sources are correct, how quickly could a Mustangs team compete to be top of the ACC table? A lot of components lean towards sooner than later. Would be fun to watch the build out
We’ll see where it all leads. In the meantime, can’t help but love the juice jumping 🐬 off of Ted Grant Field
