Shout out to @insomniacookies in Broad Ripple ~ I’ve not used them before, but did today, ordering birthday cookies for my daughter. Online ordering experience, delivery and cookies themselves were fantastic!

Three of the four candidates for Indiana Secretary of State today jointly called on FOX59 to include all candidates to participate in its upcoming televised debate.
FOX59 has excluded Ballard and Shillings from the debate, despite both candidates polling at least 5% in the latest independent public poll. The station is requiring candidates to poll above 10% to participate, but has discretion to make exceptions in the public interest.
The three campaigns are calling on FOX59 to exercise that discretion, citing the unusual consequences of this election for political competition in Indiana. Under state law, candidates receiving at least 2% of the vote for Secretary of State secure statewide ballot access for their political parties for the next four years, while parties receiving at least 10% qualify to nominate candidates through state-administered primary elections. There are still enough undecided voters for both Ballard and Shillings to potentially surpass that 10% mark.
In a joint statement, the three campaigns said:
“We believe all candidates on the ballot deserve the opportunity to make their case to voters, particularly in an election where the results will determine whether political parties gain statewide ballot access for the next four years.
“More voices in the conversation make for a healthier democracy. No party has a monopoly on good ideas, and competition increases accountability. Hoosiers deserve to hear from everyone in this debate.”
Today's Monday Mojo. Dave does a great job here.

Today's Monday Mojo addresses the growing practice of young people cutting ties with parents and other family members. In extreme situations, that is the best route to take. But that is not usually the case. Take a listen:

I have just signed the Statement of Principles for The Lincoln Party and made a 3-part pledge to Hoosier voters.
1️⃣ I won't run attack ads.
My campaign will not produce, pay for, or approve ads attacking my opponents. I'll ask for your vote on my record and my plans for this office, nothing else.
2️⃣ I'll only promise what this office can deliver.
The Secretary of State runs Indiana's elections, handles business filings, and regulates securities. We will not be asking for federal legislation that interferes with Indiana’s ability to run its own elections, nor will we talk about other issues where the Secretary of State has no control. When involving the state legislature, we will talk only about those issues within the purview of the office of Secretary of State, such as making the Recount Commission and the Election Commission non-partisan.
3️⃣ I'll tell you plainly what this job is.
You deserve to know what you're voting for. I'll be straight with you about what the Secretary of State can do and what it can't. Voters have a right to the truth about the people asking for their vote and the truth about the office they're seeking. This pledge is my promise to give you both.

This morning, I awoke to the news that two juveniles were shot last night following a high school football game. There is growing concern that juvenile violence has increased in Indianapolis in 2026. Recently, two juveniles were accidentally shot and killed as a result of the mishandling of handguns. Many leaders are concerned about the increasing number of juveniles carrying handguns and long guns on the streets of Indianapolis. It is easy to attribute juvenile violence to what some describe as poor parenting and failures within the prosecution and judicial systems. However, urban youth gun violence has persisted for six decades, and we have failed to address one of its major contributing factors. Sadly, rap culture, through music and videos, has glorified thug and gangsta lifestyles. Too many juveniles of color are being influenced by subgenres such as gangsta rap and drill rap, which glorify guns, street life, and violence. Tragically, street violence has become the means by which too many juveniles resolve interpersonal conflicts and seek revenge. As a nation, I do not see how we can significantly reduce juvenile violence without also addressing the music industry’s promotion of gangsta rap and drill rap, which is disproportionately harming juveniles in communities of color. – at Spring Hill, IN

Pastor Dave reflects on his morning last Sunday, before he even begins his sermon. An interaction with a local police officer inspired this reflection.

While visiting the Titanic museum in Belfast, I saw one of the violins from the ship; it had been recovered and restored. That was a moment, imagining this song being played on it. So beautiful!
I attended a @GregforIndiana event Sunday, and he talked about making our recount system better. This is a great article outlining the history to the present, and why Ballard’s idea to reform is a good one.

Opinion: Indiana built a recount commission to guarantee voter intent prevails. The Senate District 23 recount broke that promise. indystar.com/story/opinion/2…
