Congratulations Sagal! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿพ Youโ€™ve been a passionate champion for Camden and the people and communities who call it home. Looking forward to working with you and seeing all that youโ€™ll achieve as the new MP for Holborn and St Pancras ๐ŸŒน

Like @JewishLabour when Corbyn ran Labour, if the party refuses to police itself, the outside watchdog - in this case the EHRC, gets called in. JLM has constantly warned previous Green leadership they would up in this awful, grim place without action on antisemitism. Shameful.
It's hard to see how the Green party's motion today will avoid an investigation by the EHRC, given Labour was previously found in breach.

I received this today. The problem is I donโ€™t want to stand with Andy. I was standing with Keir, our elected leader and PM. I want the government to do well and Iโ€™m still a Labour voter, but Burnhamโ€™s disloyalty, arrogance and self-serving behaviour were the reasons I resigned.

An inspiring evening at the Bath Forum, Toppings Bookshop event with Gordon Brown. A great speaker, full of amusing anecdotes from his time in politics. And a statesman, leader and humanitarian, still working tirelessly both in his local community and internationally.

Maybe thatโ€™s because those who donโ€™t believe this have already resigned their membership and therefore werenโ€™t polled? ๐Ÿค”
๐Ÿ”ด Overwhelming majority of Labour members believe Burnham has improved partyโ€™s chances for next general election ๐Ÿคฉ ๐Ÿ‘‰๏ธ In exclusive polling of Labour members, carried out by @Survation, LabourList can reveal support for Burnhamโ€™s electoral appeal spans every wing of the party ๐Ÿ‘‰๏ธ Combined, 86 percent of Labour members believe Burnham to have improved Labourโ€™s chances at the next election. ๐ŸŒน Read the full story here ๐Ÿ‘‡ labourlist.org/2026/08/burnhโ€ฆ

Kemi Badenoch last month: "We are recruiting serious people who understand common sense, can get stuff done and can unite the country...Candidate selection is... one of the first serious tests of whether the Conservative Party has actually learnt from defeat."

For the avoidance of doubt I donโ€™t believe this man should have *any* role in public life - because of both his racism and his view of women. @KemiBadenoch youโ€™ve got this very, very wrong.

Over the last month I made the decision to resign from the Labour Party. I am sad as I have been a member many years, and a local & parliamentary candidate, but it is a protest vote as it felt the only option for me to make my views known about the change in leadership โ€ฆcontโ€ฆ

Our record governing the country over the last 2yrs was good, especially from the starting point we inherited. The party itself is in so much better a state than it was in 2019. Keir Starmer won a landslide election, is a decent human being, and highly respected around the world.

Ousting Starmer was wrong, undemocratic, and in my opinion shortsighted. I will continue to be a Labour voter, but at present I canโ€™t be a member as I feel so disappointed in the underhand action taken by Burnham and the MPs that have been planning this with him for months.

It makes me sad that 2 of the shortest terms were held by the 2 best PMs of my lifetime: Brown & Starmer. Such a missed opportunity. What more good they could have done if theyโ€™d had a full term or more to lead.

Feeling sad & despondent today. Two years ago we unexpectedly won a landslide. Now the man that led us to that victory (a decent, strong, honest, principled man) has been bullied out of his job to be replaced by someone with no credentials, morals or any right to be in the post.

So @JohnHealey is Chancellor. That's quite some reward for being the first one to really kick @Keir_Starmer in the teeth. No wonder he looks pleased with himself.

Yes Beth, thatโ€™s the kind of man he is. The man you abused, betrayed, spoke ill of, tried to upset and all for clicks. When you spend your money, remember how you made it. You sold your soul. It always shocks me how someone who is a mother can behave with such little compassion.

NEW: Am told Keir Starmer wrote handwritten notes for every single member of No 10 staff - in the hundreds - thanking them for their public service

Thank you for everything youโ€™ve done and will continue to do for West Yorkshire.
It has been the privilege of my life to serve as the Chancellor of the Exchequer. The economy today is stronger, fairer and more resilient because of the choices we have taken as a Labour Government over the past two years. Stability restored, investment delivered and reform to our economy under way. I said when I was appointed Chancellor that I would judge my time in office if the lives ordinary working class people have been improved. Iโ€™m proud to say that they have. And to every young woman and girl let my time in office show there should be no ceilings on your ambitions, your hopes or your dreams. I wish the very best of luck to my successor, Andy and his cabinet. You have my full support, and I will continue to play my part in helping this Labour government deliver the change the country needs.
