47 Lakh Voters Missing in Delhi: Supreme Court Questions Election Commission Over SIR The Supreme Court has questioned the Election Commission over the burden placed on voters during Delhi’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR). With 47.57 lakh names missing from the draft electoral roll, the CJI Surya Kant-led bench asked why the ECI cannot reach out to Delhi’s shifting population instead of making voters bear the burden. The hearing also raised serious questions about Form 6, meant for new voters, and Form 8, used by existing voters who have shifted residences. The ECI’s counsel agreed to work on a new form, while the court suggested publishing the list of 43 lakh voters who could not be contacted and keeping Forms 6 and 8 open without a cutoff. But with the claims deadline approaching on October 30, key questions remain unanswered — including the legal basis of “logical discrepancies” and whether similar concerns across Bihar, Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal will be addressed in time. Was this a meaningful step towards protecting voters’ rights, or has the relief come too late? Supreme Court Issues Notice to Rahul Gandhi Over Pregnant Journalist’s Complaint | Hearing on November 3 The Supreme Court has issued a notice to Rahul Gandhi following a petition by journalist Richa Parashar, who alleges that Gandhi pushed her during the INDIA bloc’s march to the Court on October 12, causing her to fall. She says she was 11 weeks and 3 days pregnant at the time and subsequently sought medical attention for lower abdominal pain. Parashar approached Delhi Police on October 17, seeking an FIR under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). According to her petition, no FIR had been registered in the 11 days following her complaint. The matter raises two key questions: Why has Delhi Police allegedly not registered an FIR despite the complaint, and what will the Supreme Court conclude after examining the available evidence? The petition also seeks compensation, an unconditional apology, protection for the journalist and her family, and action against those found responsible. The Court has issued a notice, not a verdict. The allegations against Rahul Gandhi remain to be examined, and the next hearing on November 3 could bring greater clarity. Watch the full analysis to understand the legal provisions involved. @RahulGandhi @kharge @NehaAisa @ravitosh0007 @rautsanjay61 #SupremeCourt #RahulGandhi #RichaParashar #CJI #DelhiPolice #IndianPolitics #PressFreedom #BNS #LawChakra
