Pretty cool lacrosse card story from the @nsccshow last week: Last year, I walked the entire show floor and unfortunately, didn’t find a single lacrosse card. This year, on Wednesday night, I was tipped off about a dealer who had some very nice lacrosse cards prominently displayed in his showcase. Thursday morning, he was my first stop. As we got to talking, turns out that we’d done business on several occasions online. He pulled out two more boxes from underneath his table. One included the most incredible Paul Rabil & Lyle Thompson collection I’ve ever seen. That was his personal “not for sale or trade” collection. The other box was a mixture of graded & ungraded cards from the 2021 & 2022 PLL sets. The cool part - over the next 30 minutes or so, as we negotiated a deal for a stack of cards, three different guys shifted their attention from the other high-end cards in his showcase to the lacrosse cards we were discussing. One guy asked me when they started making lacrosse cards. One guy and his son started looking through them and commented how cool it was that Topps made lacrosse cards. The last guy pointed at a Jeff Teat RC card and said “You know Teat just broke the scoring record?” In the context of everything going on at the National, this wasn’t a big deal….but as member of a small (but mighty) group of collectors who’ve really bought into this lacrosse card thing for the last few years, to me, this was progress….however incremental. It was also proof that there’s plenty of untapped potential. Maybe next year there’ll be 3 dealers with lacrosse cards 😎 Anyway, the photos are the cards I bought in the deal
