What wonderful news to return home to, and what a proud moment for Nigeria!
As First Lady Oluremi @SenRemiTinubu and I returned from engagements in Akwa Ibom and Rivers States this evening, I saw her keenly watching the Flamingos’ World Cup final against Japan. What a joy to see our girls defeat Japan 2–1 and become the first African team to lift the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup trophy.
Our young girls have conquered the world, made history and brought immense honour to Nigeria and the African continent.
I followed your remarkable journey throughout the tournament in Morocco, and I remember your promise after the semi-final victory to bring the trophy home. Today, you have kept that promise with courage, discipline and unwavering belief in yourselves.
Your triumph goes far beyond football. Millions of young Nigerian girls will look at what you have achieved and know that they, too, can dream big, compete with the best and reach the pinnacle of their chosen fields.
I congratulate every member of this exceptional team, the coaching crew, the Nigeria Football Federation, the National Sports Commission and everyone who contributed to this historic achievement.
On behalf of the government and people of Nigeria, I salute our world champions. You have written a glorious new chapter in our nation’s sporting history.

Mid-West Creation (itsekiri decision to remain with western region)
Resolution of the Itsekiri Nation, Aghofen, 15 May 1957
On the fifteenth day of May 1957, the Olu of Warri, together with the Traditional Chiefs of Itsekiri land, assembled at Aghofen in the name of the Kingdom of Warri, the Warri Traditional Council, and the General Assembly of the Itsekiri Nation. Having carefully considered the resolution previously adopted by the Divisional Council on the ninth day of May 1957, they unanimously endorsed it and recorded the following determinations:
“The Itsekiri people being an integral part of the Yoruba Nation desire that their association with their kith and kin the Yoruba of the Western Region must remain unbroken. That the proposed Mid-West State is inimical to the interests of the Chiefs and people of the Warri Division and the Council of Traditional Chiefs here sitting dissociate themselves from this proposed state if and when it is formed”
This resolution stands as a formal expression of the collective will of the Itsekiri leadership and the itsekiri people.

The future of transportation in Lagos is taking shape and we are making steady progress.
Phase 2 of the Lagos Blue Line Rail Project will extend the existing line from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko, bringing six new stations and connecting more communities along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Work is progressing on the tracks, bridges and stations, with the first three stations at Festac, Alakija and Trade Fair scheduled to open by the end of February 2027.
Our vision is a Lagos where people spend less time travelling and more time living, working and building their future.
We are turning that vision into reality, one project at a time.
