Tracking Layoffs in real time. We are here for you.

Joined January 2026
We built layoffhedge.com and $LAYOFF to keep tabs on every major layoff in 2026. To hold companies accountable when they fire American workers and file for cheaper foreign labor in the same quarter. This is the largest shift in labor since the Industrial Revolution. We keep tabs on it all. The good. The bad. The ugly. The data. The numbers right now: 580,000+ people have lost their jobs from major companies in 2026 215+ companies 230 separate layoff rounds 3,100+ jobs cut per day Tech, finance, healthcare, retail, auto, media, telecom, manufacturing. Nobody is safe. The last time we pinned a tweet, 41,000 of you were following. Today it is 50,000+, with 55 million+ impressions. And this stopped being a niche story. Ron DeSantis used our data to call H-1B "a total scam" and "indentured servitude." He pushed Florida's public universities to pause H-1B hiring for a year. Newsweek cited our visa research last week and called us "a workforce analytics firm." An anonymous account with a spreadsheet became a research operation that newsrooms cite. The receipts keep stacking. Our H-1B tool holds 6.8 million+ DOL filings across 238,000+ employers, free to search. Look up any company and see exactly who files for visas while cutting American staff. We cross-reference the layoff data against the filings and publish investigations with companies named. Journalists and researchers download our datasets free. Last month, we partnered with Wekruit to help connect those laid off with high paying start ups and get them back in the work force. You can browse our open roles at layoffhedge.com/jobs. Real openings from companies that are actually hiring. You interview directly with hiring managers. No resume black hole. No ghost listings. The same site that shows you who is cutting now shows you who is hiring. We spent all year tracking the layoffs. Now we can get you hired. $LAYOFF is the stake behind the work. Every week brings another round of cuts. The story is not going away, and neither are we. A people movement that happens to have a token. We will be here for you every step of the way.

CISCO'S FORMER CEO SAYS BIG COMPANIES IN THE US AND INDIA MAY NOT GROW HEADCOUNT FOR A DECADE Chambers ran Cisco for 20 years. Chambers now chairs the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, and India awarded Chambers the Padma Bhushan in 2019. The issue? He is gaslighting us. He’s only right about the American headcount portion. Indian GCC’s now employ over 2.3M and are projected to grow rapidly over the next 3 years. Only 46.3% of Cisco employees now work in the United States. In June, Cisco filed WARN notices for 471 California workers. From October through June it got 1,183 certified H-1B filings. Why can’t these leaders tell the truth?

APOLLO CHECKED FOR AN AI PAYOFF OUTSIDE BIG TECH. IT FOUND NONE. They say revenue per worker is rising for the Mag 7 and flat for the other 493 S&P 500 companies. Profit margins tell the same story. AI can absolutely make you more efficient. The question now: at what cost?
APOLLO: AI HAS DELIVERED “ZERO PAYOFF” OUTSIDE BIG TECH Apollo Chief Economist Torsten Slok warns that massive AI spending has yet to deliver measurable productivity gains across corporate America. Revenue per worker and profit margins are rising for the Magnificent Seven but remain flat for the S&P 493. Meanwhile, Gartner estimates $3.5 trillion in AI infrastructure spending could face impairment risk by 2030. The key takeaway: AI investment is booming, but returns outside Big Tech remain elusive.

EPIC IS OFFERING UP TO $50,000 FOR GAMES BUILT WITH AI Seems like a lot? It’s not. This is replacing hundreds (if not thousands) of workers. Quality, if it hasn’t already, will likely improve. Lead times slashed. Here's what the AI can already build.

ONLY 3% OF US HOUSEHOLDS PAY FOR AI Most people still use it like Google. "How do I fix my tire?" Big Tech and the AI labs are all over it. Small businesses have barely touched it. 3 in 4 US businesses didn't use AI at all in the past 2 weeks. The seismic shift is on its way.
We obviously haven’t had the major jobs wipeout yet. But you read stuff like this. And you read what economics students themselves are saying about working with AI (ht @odavis_h) and it’s hard not to feel like the seismic shift is on its way.

LAUSD VOTED IN MAY TO START CUTTING UP TO 6,000 JOBS NOW AT HIGH RISK OF INSOLVENCY, BUT IN JUNE IT FILED FOR MORE H-1B TEACHERS. We flagged these cuts in May. Here is what came next. Los Angeles Unified had 19 certified H-1B filings from November 2025 to June 2026. 17 were for teachers. Most listed a wage of $68,966. Three of those teacher filings came in June, weeks after the cut vote. On October 6 the state's school fiscal crisis team rated the district high risk for insolvency. Every one of these filings should come with proof that no California teacher wanted the job.
LAYOFF ALERT: LOS ANGELES UNIFIED SCHOOLS KAREN BASS'S LEADERSHIP JUST VOTED TO CUT 6,000 JOBS IT workers, office staff, parent support teams. Gone by June 30. Thousands more coming. $3.6 billion deficit over three years. This is not a budget problem. This is a leadership problem. Karen Bass watched LA burn, watched the schools collapse, and now hard working people are being laid off. The second largest school district in America is bleeding out on her watch. LA primary is in 10 days. The data says @SpencerPratt.

FORMER AMEX DIRECTOR SAYS AMEX HAS BEEN DOING SILENT LAYOFFS FOR YEARS Simmons was a Director of Engineering at American Express until a year ago. Simmons says a VP said to raise expectations on engineers until they could be fired "for cause." Simmons says the backfill head went to India, usually through "a body shop firm." AmEx just announced a restructuring that cuts about 5% of its global workforce. The contractor filings are public. From November through June, outside firms got 981 H-1B filings certified to place workers at AmEx. A year earlier it was 889. 762 list one address, AmEx's Phoenix campus. Simmons offered to testify. Washington should take that offer.
I was Director of Engineering at AMEX a year ago. They are doing this so that they can rehire in India. The inside story is MUCH WORSE than that though. Amex has been doing silent layoffs for years. As director, the VP told me to gradually increase expectations on engineers so that we could fire them “for cause” When you do this as a leader you get a backfill head to hire for. The caveat at AMEX? The backfill head was already decided for you - they were in India, and usually from a body shop firm. Ask me anything about how AMEX is screwing over Americans in the replies. @HarmeetKDhillon @andrealucasEEOC @USEEOC I am willing to testify/name names/do whatever is necessary to curb this anti American abuse.

2026 LAYOFF LIST. 2026 H-1B FILINGS. The biggest names on this year's layoff lists are still filing. The Labor Department certified 35,521 H-1B filings for 13 of them from October 2025 through June 2026. Amazon led with 19,923. Meta got 5,150. Microsoft got 5,107. Citi got 1,228. Cisco got 1,183. 14,872 were for new employment. It couldn’t be more obvious what’s happening across all of tech.
Layoff Announcements in 2026: 1. UPS: 30,000 Employees 2. Oracle: 30,000 Employees 3. Amazon: 16,000 Employees 4. Omnicom: 15,000 Employees 5. Meta: 8,000 Employees 6. Microsoft: 4,800 Employees 7. Dow Chemical: 4,500 Employees 8. Cisco: Fewer Than 4,000 Employees 9. American Express: 3,840 Employees 10. Uber: 3,300 Employees 11. Renault: Up to 2,400 Employees 12. Nike: 1,400 Employees 13. General Motors: 1,300 Employees 14. Disney: 1,000 Employees 15. Citigroup: 1,000 Employees The tech sector alone has seen 135,000 layoffs so far in 2026 across 330 companies. Amid rising prices and AI adoption, US corporations are looking reduce expenses and increase efficiency. Keep watching the labor market.

INFOSYS CONFIRMS STILL UNDER A DOJ H-1B INVESTIGATION Its financial statements, approved today, say the Justice Department is investigating how Infosys classified certain H-1B workers in filings with the US government. Infosys says it cannot predict the outcome. That disclosure was public in January. The case is still open. Infosys has been here before. In 2013 it paid $34 million to settle a federal visa fraud case. The filings kept coming. From October through June, DOL certified 4,553 H-1B labor filings for Infosys Limited. 4,535 listed a wage equal to the prevailing wage, to the dollar. The median was $92,581. Every one claimed the $60,000 exemption from the recruit-Americans-first rules.

AMEX LAYS OFF 5% RAISES GUIDANCE AND LAYS OFF 3,500 EMPLOYEES All while still filing for visa employees. Revenue hit a record $20.1 billion. EPS rose 31%. It also got 500 certified H-1B filings in FY2026. They also now employ >22,000 people in India, their largest office.

INSIDE THE 3,500 EMPLOYEES LAID OFF FROM AMEX They should drop the American in their name. Only 25,900 of its 76,800 employees work in the US. In 2024 it opened the largest office it has ever built from the ground up. Gurugram, India. Nearly one million square feet. 18,000+ employed across India. Between November and June it also got 554 H-1B positions certified. 189 of those filings sat at the top wage level. 187 for NEW hires. Today it books a $336 million restructuring charge and cuts about 5% of its workforce. At an estimated $96,000 a head in restructuring costs the points to American layoffs. Watching closely.

COMCAST IS SETTING ASIDE OVER $1 BILLION FOR JOB CUTS The CFO says cable layoffs land in the coming weeks. Comcast Cable filed 336 H-1B applications in the first 9 months of FY2026, at a median wage of $142,902. 647 the year before. 6,133 since 2015. All tech jobs.
$1 BILLION + towards job cuts for COMCAST! My preliminary estimate is 5,000–10,000 jobs CFO Jason Armstrong on the Q3 call: a Q4 charge of 'over $1 billion,' with cable layoffs coming in the weeks ahead. The cuts land in the coming weeks on the cable and telecom side, where revenue fell 2.7% last quarter, not at NBCU. That's the business Comcast keeps after the 2027 spin-off, with about 179,000 people across the company. Leadership says it's 'not a cost-cutting exercise.' On Oct 21 I mentioned this round could be significant. A billion-dollar charge is not a trim y'all.

87.5% OF H-1B FILINGS WOULD MISS SHEEHY'S FLOOR S.5097, the End H-1B Abuse Act, sets a $200,000 minimum wage for H-1B workers. DOL certified 392,175 H-1B filings from October 2025 through June 2026. 343,332 offered less than $200,000. New hires fall even shorter. Only 9.9% of new-employment filings cleared $200,000. The bill also makes employers swear they had no layoffs in the 12 months before filing and will have none in the 12 months after. A layoff would cost a company its H-1B access for a year. WHERE’S THE ACTION ON THIS?
.@VP nails it. My End H-1B Abuse Act would crack down on the rampant fraud and abuse in the H-1B program so we can put Americans first.

ENTRY LEVEL APOCALYPSE The New York Fed says recent grads unemployment rate is 5.6%. Underemployment edged up to 42%. Grads aged 22 to 27 are working jobs that typically don't need a degree. White-collar careers start at an entry level that is quickly disappearing.
Wake up. Every profession deemed white-collar, the middle class dream, is about to be decimated by AI, at a much faster pace than anticipated, with monstrous social consequences.

Zuck famously called off 8,000 job cuts this year after the blow back among leaks of low morale/key logging scandals within META. My bet is he keeps his word, insanely deep cuts early Q1 2027.
$META: I suspect another round of layoffs is approaching. Engineering departures are outpacing hires by more than 3 to 1. Now I’m seeing departures across HR, recruiting, operations, and senior program management. My watch window: November through Q1 2027.

AI LAYOFFS BOOMING? Look again. When I started this account (hence the name Layoff AI), Block had just laid off 40% of their staff and stock price went up. What I've learned since is how much AI is just used as an excuse. Over hiring, cheap foreign labor, or just the desire to downsize came up much more often. Take AMEX for example. They employ over 22,000 in their INDIA GCC, their largest office. Visa filings booming. This has nothing to do with AI. AI efficiencies ARE REAL, and are growing within businesses. The real problem is we have not even scratched the surface of what those layoffs may look like, and these companies are using it as a cover to continue to place blame.
The AI layoffs are here: *AMERICAN EXPRESS TO CUT 5% OF JOBS, ABOUT 3,500 EMPLOYEES *BARCLAYS TO CUT 5,000 JOBS AS AI STARTS CREATING EFFICIENCY *EBAY CONFIRMS JOB CUTS OF ABOUT 9% *NETFLIX TO LAY OFF 6% OF GLOBAL STAFF, OR ABOUT 1,000 JOBS: WSJ
