I opted out of posting on X for a few days. There was a reason. I was preparing a new release of Local Transcriber with fully redesigned panels and a new level of usefulness. All features and tweaks come from real needs. Everything is adjusted to be the perfect tool for me while I’m working… but that doesn’t mean this tool can’t prove useful for you as well! As my base of operations has relied on GitLab for years now, everything is centered here — but soon integrations like Jira, Trello, and others are coming. Everything is optional, of course. There are still some gaps to be filled, but the overall quality of transcriptions, summaries, and the ease of creating action items and calendars from them is amazing! I’m dropping the link and a new demo below for anyone interested, hope you like it! transcript.sierock.com/

ELON MUSK: The lowest cost place to put AI will be space. "It's a no brainer for building solar powered AI data centers in space, you just have solar panels facing the sun & a radiator that's pointed away from sun, then it's just cooling. The lowest cost place to put AI will be space,"

Tried Phonon-2 (~160MB) and it keeps up with the big ~1.5GB Whisper models on English. Didn’t expect that. The whole point of local transcription is that the audio never leaves your machine. The second it goes to an API, it’s not really your data anymore. Just added it to Local Transcriber. Which one are you running?

Local Transcriber 0.1.28 is out and it supports Phonon 2. It went straight into the S tier for accuracy, and the download is only about 163 MB. It handles English for now. What do you transcribe most, meetings or voice notes?

For coding agents the harness matters more than the model now. Put the same model in two different harnesses and you get two different tools. One keeps track of what it already read and backs out of a bad fix. The other doesn't. Which harness do you use every day?

My world have changed after I installed Tailscale with Rust desk. Setup took me 10 minutes on all of my devices and from now on I can work on all of my machine having only one opened. Honestly this solution is so enormous productivity boost, Claude offers us remote control or cloud sessions and those are amazing features, I really think that. Still it offers covenience with limitations, every time you want to check, debug or simply interact with created solution you need to make an effort of going to machine the app is installed or wait for github action to deploy to your vercel instance. This solves everything and feels ALMOST native. I have tried many remote desktops over the years and this is definitely my favorite. I am dropping easy guide and introduction of how to actually set it up, its from NetworkChuck and this is how I actually bump into that setup. youtube.com/watch?v=EXL8mMUX…

New OLED touch screen MacBook Pro with highlighted logo in the back. Kinda good year for apple enthusiasts.
We’re glowing with excitement over the new MacBook Pro. You’ve gotta touch it to believe it.

Seems like everyone forgot about Claude mods after a week, the hypes come and go in outstanding pace. Every day new mainstream app is reverse engineered and it’s hard to keep up what is the newest thing right now.

Seems like Ai critics will run out of excuses if even Linus is using it.

After the ArtCraft boom, people started reverse-engineering the biggest applications. They’ve started with Microsoft Office now. I was thinking that, because of that, SaaS would cease to exist, but now I think it’s actually the opposite. It will be hard to find something of value, but data-intensive applications will still have use cases and infrastructure needs that keep this business model alive. Yet after saying all this, I believe a lot of high-value software will emerge — and the same goes for shitty, uncared-for slop. The real challenge will be telling them apart.

Another 1.5M for Omacom Foundation. At this pace, we might end up with Omarchy replacing most popular distros at the moment; of course, it's a long way, but none of the current distros have had such funding, acceleration, and engagement from their communities. I am super excited.

I used to despise idea of my being project manager, today I realize that for few months I am already am. I am basically organizing whole team of devs inside my terminal.

I wonder how many people will try Haiku for the first time, just because version 5.5 released. On the other hand I might be surprised at what this model might offer even if I have troubles estinguishing my limits using Opus alone!
