Happy #CarolinaDay! On June 28, 1776, the Continental Army claimed victory at the Battle of Sullivan’s Island, a key moment in the American Revolution.
Celebrated in Charleston and on Sullivan’s Island, today honors South Carolina’s role in the fight for independence.

Republicans know their big ugly bill is bad for America. But they’ll still vote for it.
There’s a crisis of character in Congress.

Deeply disturbed by the assassination of Rep. Hortman and the assassination attempt on Sen. Hoffman in Minnesota. This is a painful tragedy, and I’m praying for their families and our nation as a whole.
I am no stranger to political violence. As a State Representative, I was threatened at gunpoint last year in North Charleston. Next week marks 10 years since my sister was murdered by a white supremacist at Mother Emanuel AME. We must stamp out hate and political violence in our country. Our survival depends on it.
