Vols’ QB1 said the win over no.6 Alabama means a lot to his state and to him. The Franklin, Tennessee native gave props to his banged up o-line that just puts a head down and keeps going this season. George McIntyre: “I feel like our offense, we always got one more punch.”

So many good things from this video in my camera roll. George MacIntyre and this Oline were poised v. No.6 Alabama despite set backs. They lined up in a Power T formation and send RB DeSean Bishop to the checkerboards on the last score of the game for the Vols. Bishop (not on the Doak Walker watch list) finished with 159 yds - 2TDs -32 attempts -3 rec. for 16 yds. It was his 3rd straight 100 yd game. Bishop gained 95yds and scored both TDs after half. Bishop: “As I keep playing, I find ways to improve my game.”

Alabama (5-1) v. Tennessee (5-1) needs no introduction. I spoke with the son of the Tennessee grad at the root of this rivalry tradition for college football's most famous Saturday. Week 7 - the only info that matters this week is who gets to smoke ’em if you got ’em.

Roughly 47% - 53 players on the Vols roster are newcomers (true freshmen and incoming transfers). A large portion of the team has never experienced an on-field snap against Alabama in this rivalry. TE coach Alec Abeln told me today what this game means inside the building. Abeln: “If you can’t get up for this one, you’re probably in the wrong building.”

Rick Barnes brought in officials to his first preseason practice today. He said they needed practice too. Rick Barnes has built the most expensive, most overhauled roster of his 12 years at Tennessee. He told us today there is a lot of buzz, but this group is not at the level they need to be yet.

UT is honoring the greatest letterman today. As many great sport stories begin, a football coach changed everything for a young kid. The Haslam story is no different. Jim Haslam now has a statue standing in front of the Neyland-Thompson Sports Center. It was General Neyland who once helped set the Jim Haslam legacy in motion.
