During the past 2 months I had the opportunity to develop the first chapter of my thesis at the WSL, in Switzerland!🇨🇭Special thanks to @Foresterbose for the planification and supervision, to @Lehmann_Lab for the nice feedback and @Boreal_Spanish @CEF_CFR @UQAT for the funding!😁

Using continuous 3-year soil water isotope sampling in different depths & hillslope locations @Waldlabor we reveal the mysteries of streamflow generation. Thanks @EGU_HESS for highlighting this huge (still ongoing) sampling effort!

In this @PNASNews paper, we show how vital nonstomatal control of transpiration is for maintaining high assimilation rates in C4 plants in response to increased VPD. Plants like maize and sorghum enhance their water-use efficiency thanks to this mechanism. doi.org/10.1073/pnas.2402233…

Exciting to visit the unique VPDrought experimental site in Pfynwald (wsl.ch/en/projects/vpdrought…) -- cool platform to disentangle the drought effects from air and soil! Really appreciate the great introduction from PI (Markus) and site technician (Jonas)!

I'm very happy that this study got published! The adverse impact of VPD on leaf gas exchange seems to have been overestimated because the unsaturation of intercellular air spaces is not considered.

Very proud that this study, started five years ago, is now out in @NatureComms. I led the experimental setup and sampling at three temperate forest sites in Changbai Mountain, Northeast China, which are part of a global network of 74 plots. nature.com/articles/s41467-0…

Very proud that this study, with @Lehmann_Lab, @Phischuler et al, several years in the making, is now out in @ScienceAdvances. We determined the biophysical and biochemical drivers of #hydrogen #isotope ratios in #carbohydrates and #lipids!
In new research published in leading journal @ScienceAdvances, Christ Church’s Dr Marc-André Cormier and his co-authors reveal how the study of isotopes can deepen our understanding of the way plants evolve in response to a changing climate. Learn more ➡️ bit.ly/3W2lTkh

Spent a hot & humid week for fieldwork, discussions and a seminar @NUS Singapore. Great start of our project on runoff generation processes & the role of different vegetation types in tropic urban & semi-urban environments (with Simone Fatichi & his awesome team! 😍)
