I wrote this after my husband died. I had a dream of the second coming of Christ. The Playbook by Dr. Shay. They say the world is spinning fast, That light is fading, fading fast. But fear not, friend, lift up your eyes, The ending’s written in the skies. Christ gave us warnings not to scare, But to call us close, to draw us near. A Savior speaks with voice so clear, “Be faithful now, til I get there.” It is not just tales of beasts and woes, Though dragons rage and judgment flows. It’s more than plagues or falling stars, It’s Christ who comes to heal our scars. When the news brings dread each night, And hearts grow faint for lack of light, Just crack the pages, look again, We’ve read the end. We know who wins. The seals will break, the trumpets blast, The kingdoms of this world won’t last. But those who stand and do not fold Will walk with Him on streets of gold. The mark, the beast, the battle cry, The trembling earth, the blood-red sky, It’s written clear, not in disguise. Revelation ought to open eyes. Yet the world shrugs off the book, As if it’s not worth one more look. But truth was never meant to hide, It’s written plain, God’s on our side. Why panic when the path is shown? Why tremble when we’re not alone? He told us how the war will go, The Lamb defeats the ancient foe. The scrolls, the thrones, the judgment seat, The cries of saints beneath His feet, The martyrs' robes, so white, so pure, Their faith endured. Their crown is sure. So take your stand, hold firm, endure. His promises are true and sure. This isn’t guesswork, smoke, or chance, It’s prophecy, not happenstance. The playbook’s here, with ink still wet, And not one word has failed us yet. So do not flinch. The end is nigh, But for the saints, it’s not goodbye. No fear. No fret. Just hold the line. The victory’s His. The throne is mine. He’s coming soon, just as He said, The Judge, the King, the Risen Head. Don’t be shaken by what’s to come, We fight the war, but it's already won. Lift up your eyes, and continue to look, We’ve read the end. We’ve got the playbook.
