ALT Showcasing research from Professor Matthew D. Lew's laboratory, McKelvey School of Engineering, Washington University in St. Louis, MO, USA. Single-molecule electrochemical imaging resolves the midpoint potentials of individual fluorophores on nanoporous antimony-doped tin oxide. See Jin Lu and Matthew D. Lew, Chem. Sci. 2024, 15, 2037.

ALT Epifluorescence imaging shows that fluorogenic probes sense chemical environments inside biomolecular condensates from different perspectives. As fluorogenic probes randomly translate through solution, they encounter various chemical environments formed by the low-complexity domain of the hnRNPA1 protein in the dilute phase or in the condensate. In response, they either remain dark or become fluorescence emitters.
