In 1999 Kennett lost an election after he removed injured workers right to sue employers for negligence. Labor in 2024 introduced legislation worse thanKennett’s changes. The mental Injury changes have had a significant impact on workers with the majority denied compensation
Further changes that are worse than Kennett’s changes have impacted workers who have been on the system for 130 weeks. Workers who the system agrees have “no work capacity” are being thrown off WorkCover payments unless they have a Whole Person Impairment of at least 20.1%.
The March 2024 WorkCover changes built a $380M surplus by throwing injured workers off the system after 130 weeks and rejecting mental injury claims. They cut off payments unless workers prove a 20.1% impairment & zero capacity for work, leaving workers without help. #springst

Hmmmm yes and wasn’t it you that attack workers by voting for the WorkCover Modernisation Scheme, without any comprehension or understanding that it harmed workers? 🙄
Where's the promised Code of Injured Workers' Rights? 3 yrs after Vic Gov accepted recommendations, incl. developing this code, no action taken. consultation, advice to Minister & legislative amendments haven't happened. Why the delay in injured workers' rights?#springst
WorkSafe was also to provide options for amending the WIRC Act to include the code for introduction into Parliament in 2023.#springst
Victorian Government commissioned Peter Rozen QC to undertake an independent review into the Agent model and the administration of complex WorkCover claims. Govt accepts five recommendations; accepts-in-principle fourteen recommendations; None implemented in 3 years #springst

While nurses and midwives certainly deserve recognition, singling them out raises questions.
What about public servants/sector workers?
You're not reading the room.

On the grass outside Victoria’s largest prison today. PPP is privately owned, run by multinational G4S. A Kennett legacy from days long gone. Not surprising the private company shifts its profits o/s to it’s parent. We reckon the workers deserve a fair share #springst
After 3 yrs, the Vic Labor govt hasn't implemented ANY of the 19 recommendations they accepted in the Rozen Inquiry into workers' comp - including legislating a basic "Code of Injured Workers' Rights." Their inaction insults vulnerable injured workers.#springst
