Reading poetry with friends like Malcolm Guite and Jerry Root late into the evening while discussing the history of the Christian faith was sublime. @malcolmguite

A very important point re Aslan’s origin as being distinct from nature. It all hinges on this key distinction.
One of the problems I foresee with this film is that it will lose a great deal of theological fidelity and precision. Aslan is not made of stars, he is the Maker of Stars. I don’t know if this is intentional but expect much of this sort of thing.

If your entire approach to literature consists of asking who has power and who is oppressed, please step away from the book and don't ever dare to pick one up again.

No. No, there has not.
Has there ever been a more important time to read The Abolition of Man?

In your opinion, should scientists at least consider making test tubes meant to contain world-ending biohazards out of something less fragile and slippery than 1mm glass?

Right. Now that it’s spooky season, it’s time to give this book another go. Started reading this lovely little edition (published in cooperation with The Charles Williams Society) several years ago. Simon the Clerk is a fascinating character. Can’t now recall why I put it down….

C.S. Lewis explicitly said that Aslan was not an analogy or allegory or symbol but a "supposal". Suppose the Second Person of the Trinity were incarnate in a different world? What would that story be like. This is crucial - Aslan is to be treated as an imaginative supposal of Christ. He isn't just a character in a story. Of course Narnia is not a sacred text, but Aslan is a sacred idea and ought to be treated as such.

It's beginning to feel a lot like the 'Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness'. John Keats wrote 'To Autumn' on this date 19 September 1819. It would be his last major poem before his death in 1821 at the age of 25.

It made my daughter so happy that PK clearly didn't use AI for his flyer. And I quote: "This kind of campy poster is always more effective than AI slop and it's just as easy to make."

We're remembering Pauline Baynes today on her 104th birthday with her map of C.S. Lewis's Narnia. According to her website she created this map in 1972 for Puffin Books UK. Baynes was also the original illustrator for The Chronicles of Narnia published between 1950 and 1956.

A poem by Wendell Berry, ‘The Sycamore’. A favourite line, rich with meaning: ‘It has gathered all accidents into its purpose.’ If that couldn’t double as a description of what God does…

“Signs of autumn - the reddening leaf, the chill in the early-morning air, the Misty evenings. In a year of drought the leaves may change before their time. Last night the waiter put the celery on with the cheese, and I knew that summer was over.” ~A.A.Milne #September1st
