The developer of the ecosocialist game Future? No Thanks! is offering refunds after players discovered the game used AI. Developer Paolo Pedercini, aka Molleindustria, had previously called AI a “technofascist, anti-human and anti-art project.” He says the game is not fully AI-generated. No art, writing or sounds were made with AI, and around 99% of the code was written before AI coding tools were viable. The bigger controversy is the AI-generated voice acting. Pedercini has since replaced those voices with human recordings, while saying the original AI voices worked better for the satire. He’s now offering refunds to players who are unhappy with the AI use.
