As a Zed Run player and Web3 tool builder since 2021, I’m calling out Zed Champions and Virtually Human Studio (VHS) for a broken system that’s doomed to collapse. There’s no doubt in my mind: Zed Champions will fail, just like Zed Run, because VHS enables a conglomerate of insiders and dominant stables to manipulate the meta and extract wealth from the community.

The acquisition of Know Your Horses (KYH) in 2022, led by insiders like Ryan Trost, handed a select group of tool builders and stables unfair advantages, giving them control over data and analytics while independent developers like me were left in the dark. VHS’s refusal to provide a public API for Zed Run or Zed Champions stifles innovation, forcing us to scrape data or rely on KYH’s now-privileged tools, which only benefits the elite. The transition from Zed Run to Zed Champions was a rug pull, devaluing our NFTs and rewarding connected players with badges for new horses, leaving loyal players high and dry. The same stables—think Arbitrage and their “cronies”—dominate the meta, feeding off each other’s success while new players are bled dry.
