Seven fab events feature in this post! Rowville & Portland Libraries host author events, local bookshops host three bookclubs, and there's another 'Books at the Brewery' Event! Also, if you're in Qld, catch ABC's Lisa Millar in Rainbow Beach! bit.ly/3aHgnjw

There is no such thing as a kid who hates reading. There are kids who love reading, and kids who are reading the wrong books.

Did you know that libraries are visited over 1.3 billion times a year which is 10 times more than MLB (68 million), NFL (17 million), NBA (22 million), Hockey (21 million), and Nascar (4 million) combined? Read More: bit.ly/34ZbFVp Via @everylibrary #library

Here's a hot tip for reading comics for free while creators get paid: go to the library and borrow them for free while the library pays for the books. And if the library doesn't have the comics you want, go to a librarian, chances are they'll get it for you. #libraries #comics

Since we're talking about pirating comics again, it's time for a reminder that LIBRARIES are your free and legal way to read comics. Let us pay the creators if you cannot!

'There is a pressing need for a defined State Government policy which provides a trigger for the construction of new libraries in new and expanding communities in the same way that there are policy provisions for schools and hospitals.'

President of @PubLibrariesVic says Victoria’s public libraries are doing more with less and there are a growing number of communities that do not have equitable access to library services #libraries #publiclibraries governmentnews.com.au/type_c…

It is absolutely critical that politicians and decision makers understand the vital role of libraries as a free space. We are not tools for partisanship or point scoring. Anger, division and suppression of ideas have no place in public libraries. Good job @ALIANational
ALIA@ALIANational17 Oct 2019
ALIA supports freedom of speech, freedom of expression and the freedom to engage in peaceful protest. We stand for social justice, and believe libraries are public spaces where communities can come together to discuss major social issues, provided their activities are lawful. 1/2
