Yesterday I replied the following to a message posted by the owner of this site as he once again posted ill-informed comments about UK politics
Replying to @elonmusk
We have freedom of speech in the UK; it's written into our law in the 1998 Human Rigts Act. But rights come with responsibilities (I appreciate that's a concept you're not familiar with); there's a requirement not to incite criminality or spread hatred online. We find society works better that way.

Liverpool's Spellow Lane library torched last night. What could be more 'patriotic' than destroying a centre which serves the local community?

Here is a statement from the CILIP ILIG Committee on recent attacks on libraries across various parts of the world. We'll work to make sure that such atrocities do not pass unnoticed. Our thoughts are with all colleagues worldwide who are having to deal with devastating losses.

Read this thread about the shocking behaviour of X, the company owned by Musk, whom our PM sucked up to so publicly this week.
🇬🇭🧵1/9 It's been a year since X, formerly known as Twitter, fired almost all its staff at its only Africa office without severance pay, following the abrupt termination of their appointment by new owner Elon Musk. Here’s a thread on what’s happened since then.

12:10 am in #Kyiv I came to specify that Ukraine is a free country where free speech is flourishing (I just got today a strange comment so I want to clarify). We publish books we want, we speak Ukrainian, sing Ukrainian, write Ukrainian, go to the church, etc... In the USSR times, we couldn't do it freely. It was prohibited or censored. Now Ukraine is fighting to keep its independence, freedom, and libraries full of our rich history. So now you know. And please tell others if they think otherwise. Oh, I came to write all of this and saw that we might have 'guests' at night. 6 TU-95.

4:45 pm in #Kyiv So I took a short video to show you the book Treasures of Ukraine. A nation’s cultural heritage. You will hear not only my voice 😉 but the sound of paper (it is marvelous). The book is available on Amazon and as you mentioned in different bookstores.
