This is a twist: There's an open seat on the Michigan supreme court, and the Republican chief justice of the Michigan supreme court is endorsing the Democratic-nominated candidate Kimberly Ann Thomas rather than GOP lawmaker Andrew Fink.

Come to think of it, denigrating the worth of a soldier’s service based on whether he deployed to a war zone is… kind of like denigrating the worth of a woman’s citizenship based on whether she happens to have children.

UPDATE: After advocates submitted thousands of comments, the rule passed!
US hospitals will be required to report key COVID, flu, and RSV hospitalization data again outside of public health emergencies, after initially ending the requirement earlier this year.
Advocacy works!
ALT Hospital and CAH Respiratory Infection Data Reporting CMS is renewing and revising the hospital and critical access hospital (CAH) Conditions of Participation (CoPs) data reporting requirements for data related to respiratory infections. Sustained data collection and reporting of respiratory illnesses outside of emergencies will help ensure that hospitals and CAHs have appropriate insight related to evolving infection control needs. Specifically, CMS is requiring that, beginning on November 1, hospitals and CAHs electronically report information about COVID-19, influenza, and RSV on a schedule specified by the Secretary. CMS is also requiring that, in the event of a declared PHE for an acute respiratory illness, the Secretary may require reporting of additional categories, such as: facility structure and infrastructure operational status; hospital/ED diversion status; staffing and staffing shortages; supply inventory shortages; and relevant medical countermeasures and therapeutics. The
Last month the requirement for US hospitals to report key COVID data to the federal government ended.
This is reckless! But there's a rule that would reinstate hospital reporting requirements outside of public health emergencies.

Remember, they called John Kerry a coward and he was a war hero. They attacked Obama for wearing a tan suit. So, they are going to attack. They are going to try to distract, deceive and demoralize. Stay strong and keep working. Be ready.
Don’t be surprised. Organize.

The next president will have the opportunity to replace 3 conservative SCOTUS justices in their 70s— Clarence Thomas, Samuel Alito, John Roberts. If it’s Trump, he will appoint 40-year-old judges in their mold who will serve for decades. This election is not about Joe Biden; it’s about ensuring we are not plagued with a far right court for the rest of our lives.

The science also tells us that face masks are very effective at preventing COVID spread.
