When you call 999, your call is graded.
I - Immediate Response - 15 Minutes
S - Significant Response - 1 Hour
E - Extended Response - 24 Hours
If a suspect is still on scene, there is a threat to life or damage to property is imminent, it’ll most likely be an Immediate Response. If you’ve been assaulted and the suspect has left or is no longer nearby, or if your house has been broken into but the suspect has left it’ll be a significant response. If you come home and there’s graffiti on your wall, it’ll most likely get an extended response. These are just examples and not exclusively the rule, depending on vulnerability of the victim and other factors. 👀
So for example yesterday we paraded eight response capable vehicles (bear in mind most Police Officers are *not* blue light trained) and five non response vehicles. Late afternoon all of our units were all on scene at emergencies and there was one immediate response call outstanding and over 30 significant response calls outstanding. I took the last immediate response call, because I had been out to supervise a sudden death, but this is an entirely normal scenario pretty much everyday. 🤷🏼♂️
Call volume out weighs demand. We do not have enough Cops on Response Teams to meet the demand. 😞
It’s that simple. 👀
My previous response team and my current response team and the teams all over London work as hard as they can every shift to get to as many calls as possible every day. But they can’t rush what they deal with at each call. 💯
That’s why there’s delays getting to significant response calls. 🤷🏼♂️ #ThinBlueLine 🚨

No ifs or buts, they would be able to if:
(1) they were properly resourced & supported
(2) they weren’t so overwhelmed by the work of other agencies
(3) they weren’t constantly subject to the whims of politicians (& newspapers) who don’t have a clue what they’re talking about…

It took me ten years and four unpublished novels before I got a book deal.
The lovely @mredwards took even longer…and look at him now! Do read his diary .

Playing with my newly acquired air fryer. This is (these are?) pork scratchings! Pretty, crunchy, tasty. What more could you ask?
I’ve forgotten how to do my own tweets. I need to stop just commenting and retweeting. This evening I noticed two horses in a field next to my home. I’ll see if they can help, in the morning…
I’ve been resigned for some time to disappointing fruit from @waitrose but I think there’s a bit of a problem in satsumaland. What on earth are these funny li’l fellas? 😳
Coming back to Twitter has been sporadic, but every now and then I see reasons to stay. Like old friends using their real names. Not sure until I scrolled through pics and saw a li’l lad who’s … not so li’l now!
I’m only recently back on Twitter - some things have changed. This just popped up and made me snort Cava down my nose… 🤣
