I'm leading a big collaborative study, asking experts to fill in spreadsheets for various bird species. One of South Africa's foremost bird experts, with each spreadsheet she submits to me, sends me a gorgeous anecdote about each species. Receiving her emails is making my day! 😊

Levaillant's Cuckoo, Clamator levaillantii, is a summer breeding inter-African migrant to West Africa. This bird was ringed as a breeding adult in November 2023 and retrapped at the same site exactly a year later. The first ever record of breeding site fidelity in this species. – at Gambia
