Just a reminder to all my friends out there:
There is one requirement to being a comic book fan.
Read a comic book and like it. That's it.
Welcome to the Fandom!

Watched “Clayface.” I wasn’t familiar with the character from DC, but I enjoyed the film. I’ve always loved the science fiction films of the 1950s and ’60s, particularly those about lonely men who gradually transform into something monstrous through scientific experiments, accidents, clinical trials, and the like. Richard Matheson’s novel “The Shrinking Man” (1956), and films such as “The Fly” (1958) and “4D Man” (1959). The facial disfigurement also reminded me of “Eyes Without a Face” (1959), “The Face of Another” (1966), and “The Skin I Live In” (2011). As a body horror film, “Clayface” will undoubtedly be compared to “The Fly” (1986) and “The Substance” (2024). But this is the story of a method actor who can become anyone through his performances, only to suffer a disfiguring facial injury and eventually gain the extraordinary ability to physically transform into anyone. Whether you see it as the story of a man who takes his revenge and descends into villainy, or as a tragedy, changes the very face of the film. While I was there, I also picked up a reprint of the original theatrical pamphlet for “The Man Who Stole the Sun.”

i love it when comic books fans have niche unpopular faves and are passionate about it. she has a whole “claylist” for clayface comics and adaptations and she’s reviewing the movie with all her knowledge of the character

There was a guy who was genuinely mad about me saying this was a 5 star match yesterday. Insane to me. I could watch this match every 6 hours for the rest of my life

We ordered BIG on midnight & upped that further at FOC because we were confident. The other stores in our area sold out early Wednesday & we sold out by Wednesday evening/ Thursday afternoon. We ordered more 1st prints while we could & those are STILL selling now.
Midnight sells.

For everyone commenting....Rob doesn't read any of the books.
He👏doesn’t👏read👏anything👏 new!!
All of his criticism is just "yeah it sucks. Its no good. Nobody has any talent"
Never one single piece of specific criticism about what's bad or how to fix it.

The support and enthusiasm you guys have shown Marvel the past few weeks—including but not limited to the MIDNIGHT books—has reminded me again how lucky I am, and how grateful that I get to do this. Once again: sincere thanks. I could never earn it, but I’ll never stop trying. 🙏
All 3 were legitimately good reads. Stores ordered heavy.

I saw somebody ask "Why is every DC project a controversy"
Nigga because thats what social media does. In every comment section there's a bit Snyder fan spamming negativity.

How is being competitive with a developmental show with a fraction of the budget a "W"?
Replying to @TheRajGiri
Good for AEW, 2nd time in recent weeks that it’s entirely believable that the MAX numbers did put Dynamite over NXT.
But then again, way to go, beating the developmental rebuilding C-show!

These people really are dumb
Man of Steel came out just after the Dark Knight trilogy and Avengers, when superhero movies were huge. It had Nolan's name on it. Yet every GOTG movie made more than it.
Superman came out post pandemic, when superhero movies were in the mud, less people going to movies, DC and Superman were unpopular, and a non-Batman world DC movie hadn't made over $500m for 7 years.
To compare their box office is absurd. Even with all those setbacks Superman still made $150m profit and only $50m less than MOS. MOT will easily surpass both.
Lanterns meanwhile is the fifth most successful show in HBO history and still getting tens of millions of views even though its finished.
Gunn has had a critical success with every CBM he's made, and 99% have made profit. Meanwhile Synder's latest movie is so bad no studio wants to distribute it.

People think there are people who are on "Gunn's side" are likely narrow minded people who think sides exist in the first place.
I dislike Snyder and his movies, but the reason I hate his cult is their petty, childish and sometimes abusive behaviour, review bombing etc. I have friends who like Snyder's stuff, but aren't assholes.
I like Gunn's work, but I won't blindly defend him. If he makes a bad movie, or one of his movies flopped, I'd not defend it blindly. I want good movies, whoever makes them.

We just making stuff up now?
Superman sales were booming because of the Byrne relaunch. They made Action a weekly anthology book and added other heroes to boost those heroes, not Superman. Also they didn't want to burn Byrne out or oversaturate the market.

CLAYFACE is now tracking for a $25M-$33M domestic opening weekend on a budget of just $40M.
First critics reactions are excellent and it may be another win for horror this year.

People like to say “if you died tomorrow, your company would hire your replacement you within a week”.
I say that’s a bald-faced lie. We all know two of your existing coworkers would inherit your workload because of the hiring freeze, and management would be thanking everyone for their resilience before your body was even in the ground.
